Cyberpunk 2077 has had one of the most dramatic journeys in modern gaming, shifting from a rocky launch to a title that steadily rebuilt its reputation through major updates, expansions, and a renewed fanbase.

CD Projekt RED has continued to refine the experience while looking ahead to what comes next for the franchise, setting the stage for another pivotal moment in Night City’s evolving legacy.

The Cyberpunk 2077 comeback gained even more momentum this week as CD Projekt RED confirmed major progress on the franchise’s future, revealing fresh internal developments that highlight how strongly the company is investing in what comes next and crossing 35 million copies sale.

The studio’s latest update signals a clear commitment to expanding the world of Night City and building on the renewed success the game has experienced over the past year.

Importance: The Cyberpunk 2077 comeback shows CDPR’s recovery and commitment to the franchise, boosting fan confidence and shaping the future of Night City.

The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is moving deeper into pre-production with a team now at 135 developers and plans to exceed 300 by 2027

Behind The Scenes Of The Sequel

According to CD Projekt RED’s latest Q3 presentation, the Cyberpunk 2077 comeback is now backed by significant growth behind the scenes, with the team developing the sequel expanding from 96 to 135 developers as the project moves deeper into pre-production.

The company plans to scale the team to more than 300 developers by 2027 across its Boston, Vancouver, and Warsaw studios. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 has quietly added another major achievement, surpassing a massive global sales milestone since last year’s update and cementing the renewed interest surrounding the franchise.

CDPR’s Focus On The Witcher 4

Although the studio’s largest focus remains on The Witcher 4—currently staffed by over 447 developers—multiple teams are still pushing forward on Cyberpunk’s future, alongside other projects like Project Sirius and the early-stage new IP, Hadar.
