Ubisoft’s highly anticipated launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expected on March 20, 2025. Several factors have contributed to the game’s widespread appeal since its reveal, notably the ability to switch between two unique characters.

Switching characters in action role-playing games has been a common feature, as players often make use of the unique abilities each character offers, and alternating between the different characters is necessary in many such titles.

However, this would not be an issue with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as alternating between the Samurai and Ninja in Assassin’s Creed Shadows won’t be necessary, according to the game’s director.

Jonathan Dumont, the creative director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, told Screen Rant that the players will not be “missing out” on a lot of things, if they play the game as a single characters without switching.

Importance: The news provides reassurance to players that the game will provide equally rich experience for any character. This update will have positive response from those who want to play at their own pace without the pressure of swapping characters.

The news comes just before the release of the game next month. While Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers the choice to play any protagonist, as they offer different playing styles as ninja or samurai, the director believes that players won’t miss a lot of content if they choose to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows as one character.

    Dumont stated,

“I don’t think you’re missing out on things too much, I think it’s more on your preference to [say] ‘okay, I’ll see how the game will adapt a little bit to the character if you choose one over the other”

He also explains that each character in Assassin’s Creed Shadows has their unique storyline and quests. However, players can choose any character, and the game will adjust to the choice. He says that to have a balanced experience, players can play each character for a few hours as he himself does.

Unfortunately, the new release has been delayed twice, but Ubisoft is confident that the feedback in this duration from fans will help them to improve the game. Moreover, the title has also been heavily censored in Japan to comply with their regulation laws.

On that note, will you be primarily playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows with a single character or would you be switching between the two characters? Let us know in the comments section.
