Fortnite Reload could soon receive the Flashlight Pistol, according to newly surfaced information shared by HYPEX. The weapon is reportedly configured to illuminate dark areas up to 11 meters in front of the player while remaining usable as a normal pistol. Epic Games has not announced the item for Reload, so its arrival and release timing remain unconfirmed.

The Flashlight Pistol itself is not a completely new Fortnite weapon. Epic originally introduced it to Creative mode in 2019, describing it as a way for players to defend themselves while navigating dark environments. The Rare pistol combines a conventional semi-automatic sidearm with an attached light source that illuminates the space directly ahead of the player.

The new leak is significant because it specifically points to the weapon being prepared for Reload rather than remaining restricted to Creative experiences. HYPEX says the light can extend approximately 11 meters ahead, giving it an obvious utility in low-visibility spaces beyond simply functioning as another pistol. The leak does not currently establish its rarity, damage, magazine size or whether its Reload version will use the same combat statistics as the existing Creative weapon.

The timing has prompted speculation that the pistol could be connected to an upcoming Halloween-themed Reload map. HYPEX raised that possibility when sharing the discovery, but there is currently no confirmation that the weapon was created specifically for Fortnitemares or that a future Reload map will require players to navigate dark interiors. Until additional files or an Epic announcement establish that connection, the Halloween explanation remains speculation.

There is nevertheless growing evidence that Fortnite’s Halloween content is beginning to take shape. Recent map changes and datamined material have strengthened expectations around Five Nights at Freddy’s content during Fortnitemares 2026, while other seasonal map changes have also started appearing ahead of the event. A weapon designed around visibility in darkness would fit naturally into that broader theme, but its presence in the files alone does not prove how Epic intends to use it.

Reload has increasingly developed its own content and progression hooks rather than functioning only as a smaller version of Battle Royale. Recent leaks have also pointed to Kado Thorne returning through Reload quests and rewards, suggesting Epic is continuing to give the mode its own reasons for players to return. Adding a utility-focused weapon such as the Flashlight Pistol would be another way to differentiate future Reload rotations or limited-time map variants.

The existing Creative version provides some useful context for how the item works. Epic’s original patch notes describe the Flashlight Pistol as a Rare weapon using light ammunition, with the flashlight intended specifically for exploring dark areas. Its current Creative implementation remains a hitscan pistol with the light mounted beneath the barrel, although Reload-specific values could be changed before release.

That distinction matters because Fortnite frequently maintains different balancing and functionality across modes. An item transferred from Creative into Reload does not necessarily have to retain identical damage, magazine or handling characteristics, particularly if Epic is introducing it to support a specific map design. The reported 11-meter illumination distance may therefore be more relevant to the leaked Reload configuration than the older weapon’s combat statistics.

No release date for the Flashlight Pistol has been identified in the leak, and Epic has not listed it in official Reload update notes. It is also unclear whether the item would become part of the permanent loot pool, appear only on a particular map or be used during a temporary seasonal event.

For now, the strongest indication is that a Reload-compatible Flashlight Pistol is being prepared with a functional light capable of illuminating the area ahead. Any connection to a Halloween Reload map remains unconfirmed, but the weapon’s return would introduce an unusually environment-focused utility item into a mode where visibility is normally taken for granted.
