Forza Horizon 6 will officially launch on PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, Playground Games has confirmed. The announcement also reveals that Premium Edition buyers can begin playing five days earlier, on January 21, alongside the release of the game’s first expansion across all platforms. The confirmed date moves the PS5 version beyond its previously announced 2026 release window, while pre-orders are now available through the PlayStation Store.
Playground Games detailed the release in an October 8 announcement, following PlayStation’s confirmation of the January launch date. The developer also revealed that Panic Button is handling the PS5 port in collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Panic Button previously developed the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 5, which arrived on Sony’s console in 2025. The latest announcement confirms several technical features, purchasing options, and multiplayer capabilities for the upcoming release.
The January date follows an earlier report pointing to a January 2027 PS5 release, which identified January 26 as the expected launch date. Microsoft initially announced that Forza Horizon 6 would arrive on Xbox Series X|S and PC in May 2026, with a PlayStation version scheduled for later that year. The game became available through early access on May 15 before its general Xbox and PC release on May 19. The new announcement establishes a firm PS5 release date after the original launch window slipped into 2027.

PlayStation 5 players will be able to choose between Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Editions. The Standard and Deluxe Editions launch on January 26, while the Premium Edition provides access beginning January 21. A physical PS5 edition will also be available through participating retailers, confirming that the release will not be limited to digital purchases.
The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Welcome Pack, and Car Pass. Premium Edition buyers receive additional content, including VIP Membership, the Time Attack Car Pack, the Italian Passion Car Pack, and access to two planned expansions. Players purchasing the Standard or Deluxe Edition can also obtain the Premium Upgrade separately, although the underlying game is required.
Playground Games has also confirmed that Forza Horizon 6’s first Premium Expansion launches on January 21, 2027, across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5. The expansion will be included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, and Expansions Bundle at no additional charge, while a separate purchase option will be available. Although the developer has established its release date, specific information about the expansion’s setting, vehicles, and gameplay additions has not yet been disclosed.
A free content update is also planned around the PS5 release and first expansion. Playground Games has not detailed what the update will contain, but says additional information will be shared closer to launch. The simultaneous expansion release means existing Xbox and PC players will receive new content during the same period that Forza Horizon 6 becomes available to PlayStation users.
On the technical side, Playground Games confirmed that the PS5 version supports both Quality and Performance modes. The newly released pre-order trailer was captured on a standard PlayStation 5 running in 4K at 30 frames per second using Quality mode. Players will also have access to a 60FPS Performance mode, although the developer has not specified its rendering resolution.
Cross-platform functionality is another important part of the announcement. Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 will support cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, allowing players to race together and carry progress between supported platforms. User-generated content will also be shared across platforms, including EventLab races, custom liveries, tuning setups, garages, and other community creations. This will give PlayStation players access to an established library of player-created content immediately upon release.
The game takes the Horizon Festival to Japan, featuring an open world built around the country’s cities, countryside, and car culture. Players can explore the map using more than 550 vehicles while progressing through racing events, collecting cars, and participating in multiplayer activities. Those pre-ordering any PS5 edition will also receive a pre-tuned Ferrari J50, which becomes available after completing the game’s prologue.
With pre-orders now open, the January 26 release date confirms when PlayStation players can finally experience the latest Forza Horizon entry. Premium Edition owners will have access from January 21, the same day the first expansion becomes available to players on all supported platforms.
