GTA VI Extended Look Peaks at 3.97 Million Livestream Viewers

Grand Theft Auto VI’s Extended Look reached more than 3.97 million peak viewers across livestreaming platforms, making it the most-watched major gaming showcase tracked by Streams Charts so far in 2026.

Streams Charts recorded a peak of 3,970,738 concurrent viewers across reaction streams covering Rockstar Games’ August 27 presentation.

More than 9,000 channels broadcast or reacted to the showcase, collectively generating roughly 5.2 million hours watched.

The figure does not represent Netflix’s total audience for the presentation.

Rockstar premiered GTA VI: An Extended Look on Netflix, but the 3.97 million figure specifically comes from Streams Charts’ tracking of public livestreaming platforms and reaction broadcasts.

That distinction matters because Netflix does not expose its live viewing data in the same way as Twitch, YouTube or Kick.

According to Streams Charts, Twitch accounted for the largest share of viewing time surrounding the presentation at about 44%.

YouTube followed with 34.8%, while Kick accounted for 20.2%.

The audience was large enough to put GTA VI ahead of every other major gaming showcase Streams Charts has compared in 2026.

Summer Game Fest 2026 peaked at approximately 3.81 million viewers, meaning GTA VI surpassed it despite being focused on a single game rather than an event containing dozens of announcements.

Streams Charts also placed the presentation ahead of June’s Nintendo Direct and State of Play broadcasts individually.

Some social-media posts subsequently claimed GTA VI drew more viewers than Summer Game Fest, State of Play and Nintendo Direct combined.

The available Streams Charts data does not support that comparison, so the stronger verified claim is that GTA VI produced the highest individual peak among the major gaming showcases the analytics company has measured this year.

Spanish streamer IlloJuan recorded the largest individual creator audience during the presentation.

His reaction stream reached approximately 233,500 peak viewers, which Streams Charts says established a new peak-viewership record for his Twitch channel.

Audience discussion was also unusually heavy.

Streams Charts analyzed more than 100,000 GTA VI-related messages posted across livestream chats during a three-hour period surrounding the event.

Roughly 11% to 15% of those messages were classified as clearly positive, with viewers frequently commenting on the game’s visuals and gameplay.

Negative sentiment accounted for around 17% to 20%, but Streams Charts noted that much of that criticism was aimed at technical problems affecting the viewing experience rather than GTA VI itself.

Both Netflix and Twitch experienced issues around the presentation window.

Streams Charts said some viewers reported being unable to access streams for between 40 and 50 minutes.

Twitch publicly acknowledged problems affecting multiple parts of its service, although the company did not state that GTA VI traffic was responsible.

Netflix also saw a significant surge in activity.

Separate Sensor Tower estimates found that U.S. Netflix mobile usage rose sharply during GTA VI’s premiere window, while web traffic increased by more than 125% compared with the average for the same time slot across the previous 12 Thursdays.

The Extended Look subsequently reached the top of Netflix’s movie chart.

Rockstar’s unusual release strategy gave Netflix six hours of exclusivity before the presentation became available through Rockstar’s own YouTube channel and website.

The presentation itself runs nearly 27 minutes and was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.

Rockstar used it to show Vice City and the wider state of Leonida alongside Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos and a broad range of gameplay and world systems.

For a presentation dedicated to a single unreleased game, the livestream numbers underline the scale of interest surrounding GTA VI ahead of launch.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
