LOVE Magazine has revealed four new Grand Theft Auto VI screenshots alongside fresh comments from Rockstar developers about Jason, Lucia and the studio’s approach to building Leonida. The images appear in a preview for LOVE Issue 27, which features GTA VI on the cover and is scheduled to release on October 5. The new material is separate from the recent Game Informer GTA VI screenshot batch, giving Rockstar another magazine feature focused more heavily on the game’s two protagonists.
The four screenshots show Jason and Lucia together in several different situations. One places the pair inside a diner, another shows them playing pool, a third features them on a motorcycle, and the fourth is a black-and-white portrait. LOVE’s cover also uses new Rockstar-created artwork of the two characters, reinforcing that the feature is centered on their relationship rather than simply the wider open world.
The magazine preview includes comments from Rob Nelson, Co-Studio Head and Head of Development at Rockstar North, along with Senior Vice President of Narrative Rupert Humphries and writers Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern and Alexa D’Agostino. Nelson said Rockstar does not pursue realism for its own sake, instead using it where it helps immersion and stepping away from it when player convenience matters more. That approach suggests GTA VI’s systems are being designed around believability without sacrificing playability.

Humphries expanded on Rockstar’s broader view of Leonida, describing the setting as an exaggerated version of the modern world rather than a literal recreation of Florida. He said the studio wanted the game to feel more extreme, satirical and larger than life, which fits Grand Theft Auto’s long-standing approach to parodying contemporary culture. The comments also reinforce that Rockstar sees southern Florida as an especially useful backdrop for themes involving wealth, crime, ambition and the modern version of the American Dream.
The new character details are more specific. Rockstar describes Lucia as someone determined to build a better life and unwilling to let obstacles stop her, while Jason is portrayed as being shaped more heavily by the circumstances around him. Gauvey-Kern said the team wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough and capable of being wrong as well as right, with the two learning from each other rather than functioning as invincible archetypes.
That emphasis on imperfection appears central to the way Rockstar is writing the pair. D’Agostino said that focusing on fully realized characters with their own wants naturally produces people who feel inconsistent and imperfect in believable ways. The result is intended to make Jason and Lucia feel less like fixed player avatars and more like characters whose decisions and relationship can evolve over the course of the story.
The screenshots also continue Rockstar’s recent shift toward showing the protagonists together more often. Earlier promotional material established Jason and Lucia as the central duo, but the LOVE feature presents them in quieter and more personal situations rather than focusing on robberies, gunfights or large set pieces. That makes the new images useful for understanding how much of GTA VI’s story may be built around their relationship outside of major missions.
Rockstar has been steadily increasing its GTA VI marketing ahead of launch, with new screenshots, soundtrack information and physical products appearing more frequently. The company has also confirmed a 34-track GTA VI album for launch day, while performers connected to the game have reportedly remained under strict confidentiality agreements as the release approaches. The LOVE feature adds another controlled look at the game without revealing major plot events.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. LOVE Issue 27 arrives on October 5 and is expected to contain a longer interview with Rockstar’s development and writing teams beyond the excerpts already released. The preview alone, however, provides four additional official screenshots and some of the clearest comments yet on how Rockstar is approaching Jason and Lucia as a pair.
