Metal Max 2 Reloaded Steam Achievements Point to PC Release

Metal Max 2 Reloaded appears to be heading to PC after a previously unknown Steam app surfaced with an achievement set explicitly identifying the 2011 Nintendo DS RPG. Exophase currently lists the game as a Steam release with 73 achievements, while the associated Steam App ID, 4583090, has also existed in SteamDB’s database since April 2026. Neither Cygames nor another publisher has announced a Steam version of Metal Max 2 Reloaded, making the backend data the first concrete indication of a modern PC release.

The Exophase listing is particularly notable because it identifies the game directly as “Metal Max 2: Reloaded” rather than leaving it attached to an anonymous Steam app. Its first achievements are titled “Loading complete” and “I’m tired of slaying dragons.,” with the latter carrying the description “Start MM.” Most of the remaining entries currently use placeholder labels such as “NEW_ACHIEVEMENT_NAME” and corresponding placeholder descriptions, so the list reveals considerably more about the game’s existence on Steam than about any changes to its content.

SteamDB separately tracks App ID 4583090 as an unknown application first detected on April 2, 2026. The database does not currently have the access token required to expose complete metadata for the app, meaning it cannot independently display a public store name or confirm a release date. Taken alongside the achievement tracker identifying the same Steam app as Metal Max 2 Reloaded, however, the evidence points strongly toward a Steam build being prepared behind the scenes.

That would mark a significant platform expansion for this particular version of Metal Max 2. Metal Max 2 Reloaded launched exclusively in Japan for Nintendo DS on December 8, 2011, published by Kadokawa Games. It was itself a substantial remake of the original Metal Max 2, which debuted for Super Famicom in 1993 and later received a Game Boy Advance version titled Metal Max 2 Kai.

Reloaded rebuilt the game using technology associated with Metal Max 3 while retaining the series’ post-apocalyptic RPG structure, which mixes traditional party-based progression with tanks and other combat vehicles. The story follows a young hunter seeking revenge against the Grapplers after an attack on Mado, with players travelling through an open-ended wasteland, hunting wanted monsters and upgrading vehicles. Despite its reputation among series fans, the DS version never received an official Western release.

The ownership situation surrounding Metal Max has also changed considerably since Reloaded originally launched. Cygames acquired the Metal Max business and intellectual property rights from Kadokawa Corporation and Kadokawa Games in July 2022, saying it intended to work toward creating a new future for the franchise. Cygames currently lists an unspecified “Metal Max Project” among its games in development, although there is no official evidence establishing that project as the leaked Metal Max 2 Reloaded Steam release.

The discovery came as part of a much larger Steam achievement data exposure affecting numerous unreleased games, which temporarily made achievement information for private or unreleased applications accessible through Steam’s systems. That incident has produced listings for both announced titles and previously unknown releases, meaning the appearance of Metal Max 2 Reloaded is not based solely on a community claim or filename circulating without supporting backend data.

There are still major unanswered questions. The Steam information does not establish whether this is a straightforward port, a remaster with technical improvements, a newly localized version or part of a broader Metal Max re-release initiative, and there is currently no confirmed release window. It is also possible that plans could change before the Steam application ever receives a public store page.

For now, the 73-achievement listing and identifiable Steam app provide the clearest evidence yet that Metal Max 2 Reloaded is being prepared for a platform beyond its original Nintendo DS release. Until Cygames or another involved publisher makes an announcement, however, the PC version should be treated as an unconfirmed backend discovery rather than an officially announced release.
