One or Eight has announced PixelHeroScramble Plus, a pixel-art tower defense game coming to Nintendo Switch and PC. Gematsu reports that the newly revealed strategy title will launch on both platforms, while its Steam page is already live with a “coming soon” release window. A specific launch date and pricing have not yet been announced.

PixelHeroScramble Plus is built around fixed-route tower defense, with enemies advancing along predetermined paths while players decide where and when to deploy their units. Rather than placing conventional towers, players summon pixel-art fighters with different roles and abilities, then upgrade or replace them as each battle develops. One or Eight describes positioning, timing and unit combinations as the core of the game’s strategy.

More than 60 unit types will be available to unlock as players progress. Some are designed to inflict status effects, while others can stall groups of enemies, restore health or strengthen allied units with buffs. That variety is intended to encourage players to adjust their army depending on the layout of a stage and the enemies moving through it rather than relying on a single fixed formation.

Enemy waves are joined by much larger boss encounters, adding another layer to the usual defense structure. Stages will offer Normal, Hard and Challenge difficulty settings, with Challenge mode introducing additional restrictions for players looking for a more demanding version of each scenario. The environments shown and described so far include city streets, grasslands and desert areas, each presented through the game’s retro-inspired pixel-art style.

Players will also have access to EX Skills that can be triggered manually at important moments. Examples listed by One or Eight include calling down meteorites to damage groups of enemies or creating barriers that temporarily hold advancing forces back. Because these abilities depend on timing rather than operating automatically, they give players another way to react when a defensive line starts to collapse.

Single-use items provide a separate fallback system. These can perform effects such as dealing heavy damage across the battlefield or healing the player’s units, giving newer tower defense players a way to recover from mistakes without immediately losing a stage. One or Eight says the system is meant to keep the game accessible while still allowing higher difficulties to place stronger restrictions on experienced players.

The Steam listing also confirms that PixelHeroScramble Plus will be a single-player game with achievements, Steam Cloud support and full controller support on PC. Its minimum requirements currently list Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-6500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8GB of RAM and graphics hardware around the GTX 750 Ti, Radeon R7 360 or Intel UHD 630 level. The installation footprint is listed at 2GB of available storage.

Language support currently includes English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese for both the interface and subtitles. The Steam disclosure also notes that artificial intelligence was used for initial translations before those translations were reviewed and refined by a human editor. There is no full voice acting listed.

A separate PixelHeroScramble Plus demo has also appeared on Steam and is likewise marked as coming soon. Its description mirrors the main game’s core systems, including the large unit roster, boss encounters, multiple environments and three difficulty levels. One or Eight has not yet announced exactly when the demo will become playable or whether Nintendo Switch will receive its own trial version.

PixelHeroScramble Plus currently has no firm release date beyond its upcoming status. When it does arrive, the game will combine fixed-route tower defense with a large roster of deployable units, active EX Skills, emergency items and multiple difficulty settings across Nintendo Switch and PC.
