Shape of Dreams is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, expanding the action roguelite beyond its original PC release. Publisher NEOWIZ and developer Lizard Smoothie launched the three console versions on September 17, with the Xbox edition also arriving through Game Pass. The console rollout coincides with The Starless Path, the game’s largest update since its Steam debut.

Shape of Dreams originally launched for PC via Steam in September 2025 and has since attracted more than 1.5 million players, according to Lizard Smoothie. The game combines fast hack-and-slash combat with MOBA-inspired controls and build crafting, placing players in a constantly changing dreamscape known as the Rapids. Runs can be completed solo or with up to four players through online cooperative play.

Players choose from a roster of Travelers with substantially different combat styles. Lacerta relies on firearms, Shell specializes in close-range blade combat and Nachia fights alongside summoned companions, while other characters emphasize support, ranged attacks or different forms of crowd control. Builds are created by combining Memories, which function as abilities, with Essences that modify their effects and allow the same character to develop differently between runs.

The console release arrives alongside The Starless Path, which adds another playable Traveler named Cetus. Cetus uses frost-based attacks and can shift between roles depending on how players build him, ranging from a ranged damage dealer to a heavier frontline fighter. The update brings the roster to nine Travelers and expands the pool of build options available across the game.

The Starless Path also introduces the Way of Stars, a progression system that develops as individual Travelers are played repeatedly. Completing character episodes builds constellation-like progression paths containing illustrations, emotes and additional story material. Following those paths far enough can unlock a new ending and a stronger version of the game’s final boss.

Six shared Identity Memories have also been added as part of the update. These items can substantially alter a Traveler’s normal combat identity, allowing players to replace or reshape core elements of a character’s usual playstyle rather than simply improving existing statistics. Heroic bosses have received additional attack patterns at higher difficulty levels as well, increasing the challenge for experienced players.

Console players receive the accumulated updates and balance changes introduced during Shape of Dreams’ first year on PC. Lizard Smoothie has previously added the Limbo endgame difficulty, new shrines and rewards, revisions to critical-hit mechanics and extensive balancing across Memories and Essences. The developers say performance and stability work carried out over the past year has also been incorporated into the console builds.

Cross-play is supported, allowing players on different supported platforms to enter cooperative runs together. Xbox Series X|S players additionally receive the Crimson Flash Lacerta costume at no extra cost, including those accessing the game through Game Pass. The Xbox version is available on the service from launch and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.

Shape of Dreams has also launched at a discounted introductory price of $19.99 in the United States, with regional pricing varying by platform and market. The Steam version remains available alongside the new console editions, making this the first time the game has been broadly accessible outside PC.

The September 17 launch substantially expands the audience for one of NEOWIZ’s more successful recent publishing projects. With PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 versions now available alongside PC, Shape of Dreams enters its second year with cross-platform multiplayer, a ninth Traveler and a major progression update already included from day one on consoles.
