Trover Saves the Universe appears to have been delisted from major digital storefronts without an announcement from developer and publisher Squanch Games. The 2019 comedy action-platformer is no longer available to purchase through Steam, and checks reported by VGC found it unavailable across Epic Games Store, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and Meta storefronts as well. Squanch Games has not publicly explained why the game was removed or said whether the delisting is temporary.

The clearest evidence of a deliberate change comes from Steam’s backend. SteamDB now marks Trover Saves the Universe as retired and no longer available on the Steam store, with its records showing an update on September 21, 2026. The game’s Steam package was also updated that day and is listed without a current purchase price, although existing owners retain the title in their libraries.

Store pages can remain accessible or indexed after a game is withdrawn from sale, which makes the situation less obvious on some platforms. Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and Epic pages for Trover can still surface through web searches or older cached results, but that does not necessarily mean a fresh digital purchase can be completed. VGC reported that the title had disappeared as a purchasable product across Steam, Epic Games Store, Meta, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo when checking the stores directly.

Squanch Games continues to maintain an official Trover Saves the Universe page on its website, which still describes the game and hosts promotional material including its Nintendo Switch and Xbox One launch trailer. The studio’s website also continues to list Trover among its games alongside High on Life, High on Life 2 and Accounting+. There is currently no notice on the game’s official page explaining the apparent storefront removals.

Trover Saves the Universe originally launched for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR on May 31, 2019 before reaching PC in June of that year. Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions followed later in 2019, while the game was also released for Oculus hardware. It can be played either traditionally on a television or monitor or with supported VR hardware, combining third-person platforming, combat and puzzles with Squanch Games’ comedy-focused presentation.

The game was developed and published by Squanch Games and prominently featured voice work from studio co-founder Justin Roiland. Roiland resigned from Squanch Games in January 2023, but there is currently no evidence connecting that history to the new delisting. No licensing expiration, technical problem, contractual issue or other reason for the removal has been announced, so attributing the change to any specific cause would be speculation.

Unexpected digital removals are not always permanent. Some games have temporarily disappeared because of platform or publishing issues, including the recent situation in which several PlayStation PC games were mistakenly delisted from Steam in the UK before Sony said it was working with Valve to restore them. In Trover’s case, however, the apparent removal spans multiple storefronts and Steam specifically lists the game as retired, making the situation broader than a single regional store error.

Players who already own Trover Saves the Universe are not necessarily affected in the same way as prospective buyers. Digital delisting generally prevents new purchases while leaving existing licenses intact, and SteamDB continues to show players using the game after its retirement from sale. Physical PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch copies also exist, providing another route to the game where compatible hardware is available.

For now, the scope of the removal is clearer than its cause. Trover Saves the Universe appears to have been withdrawn from sale across the major platforms on which it was distributed, with Steam backend data confirming at least that version has formally been retired. Until Squanch Games comments, it remains unknown whether the game will return to digital stores or why it was removed in the first place.
