Newly surfaced material from Warner Bros.’ cancelled Project Moonlight kart racer reportedly reveals its working title, additional characters, tracks and gameplay systems. The images and details were shared by MultiVersus-focused account AusilMVS, which had also circulated concept art from the abandoned project earlier this week. Warner Bros. has never officially announced or authenticated the game, so the new material should be treated as leaked development content rather than a confirmed product reveal.
The latest images reportedly identify the game simply as WB Racers, one of the names previously said to have been considered during development. Earlier reporting from Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty had described Project Moonlight as a Warner Bros. crossover kart racer developed at WB Games San Diego, with WB Racers and XDR, short for Cross-Drift Racers, among the possible final titles. Moriarty said he had seen gameplay footage and described the project as an Unreal Engine 5 drift racer heavily inspired by Mario Kart.
The new material appears to expand the roster considerably. Batman and Harley Quinn are reportedly visible directly in gameplay images, while additional characters listed in the leaked material include The Flash, Velma from Scooby-Doo, Granny and Tweety from Looney Tunes, Steven from Steven Universe, Scorpion from Mortal Kombat, and Tom and Jerry. That lineup fits the broad crossover direction established by earlier Project Moonlight concept art, which appeared to feature Bugs Bunny, Cyborg and franchise-themed vehicles.
Two additional environments are also said to be visible. One is Gotham City, while another appears to draw from the desert settings associated with Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, including ACME branding and badlands-style scenery. The Batmobile also reportedly appears as a playable kart, suggesting vehicles could be directly themed around individual Warner Bros. properties rather than using only generic racing designs.
The leaked gameplay images may also reveal a team-based mechanic. One screenshot reportedly shows Batman paired with Granny and Tweety, with an “Incoming Call” indicator appearing for the second character even though only Batman is physically driving the kart. Other racers also appear to have associated partners that are not seated in their vehicles, suggesting the project may have included some form of support-character or duo system.
Another possibility raised by the leaked interface is a two-item mechanic. Screenshots reportedly show multiple item slots, although there is not enough public information to determine exactly how they would have functioned in a finished build. Because Project Moonlight was cancelled before release and apparently changed direction several times, individual mechanics shown in development footage should not be assumed to represent a finalized design.
Earlier reporting indicated that WB Games San Diego was the primary developer, with more than 100 people working at the studio during parts of production. The project reportedly began as an online free-to-play game intended for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms before its platform and business plans changed. Switch and mobile versions were later dropped, while the project eventually shifted toward a paid PC release planned for Steam Early Access.
The newly surfaced material now suggests versions may at one stage have been considered for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC, iOS and Android, though that may reflect an earlier phase of development rather than the project’s final direction. Reports from 2025 described Project Moonlight as undergoing repeated changes in scope and platform strategy before development ended. Warner Bros. later closed WB Games San Diego in February 2025 as part of a broader restructuring that also affected Player First Games and Monolith Productions.
There is no indication that WB Racers or Project Moonlight has been revived. The new screenshots instead provide a more detailed look at how far the cancelled crossover racer progressed and how Warner Bros. properties including DC, Mortal Kombat, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo and Steven Universe could have been combined within a single racing game.
