Microsoft has confirmed its Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast for September 17, alongside a wider presence at the event that includes playable games and an Xbox FanFest gathering in Tokyo. The broadcast begins at 7:00 p.m. JST, or 3:00 a.m. PT, 6:00 a.m. ET and 11:00 a.m. UK time. Xbox says the show will feature games coming to the platform this year, including TGS-exclusive content and new gameplay.
The presentation will be hosted by Misuzu Araki and streamed through Xbox’s official global and Japanese channels as well as Tokyo Game Show’s official YouTube channel. Microsoft has not published a complete game list for the broadcast, leaving room for additional announcements beyond the titles already confirmed for its show-floor presence. The company is positioning the event as part of its continuing focus on developers and players across Japan and the wider Asian region.
Microsoft has already confirmed two major games for hands-on play at Tokyo Game Show. Minecraft Dungeons II will make its first appearance on the TGS show floor after being shown at gamescom, giving Japanese attendees an opportunity to play the upcoming action RPG before launch. The sequel releases on September 29 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and cloud, and will also be included with Game Pass.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will also be playable during the event through Xbox’s partnership with Happinet. Visitors will be able to try the game’s multiplayer ahead of its worldwide release on October 23, 2026. Call of Duty will additionally be represented at Xbox FanFest Tokyo, although Microsoft has not detailed exactly what activities or game content will be available there.
Xbox FanFest takes place on September 17 as part of Microsoft’s broader 25th anniversary celebrations. The Tokyo stop will include a watch party for the Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast and appearances from Misuzu Araki and Larry Hyrb. Microsoft has been taking FanFest to several cities throughout 2026, using the anniversary year to combine major industry events with smaller community-focused gatherings.
This year’s Tokyo Game Show runs from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe, making it the event’s longest edition to date. The first two days are designated as business days, while the final three are open to the public. Xbox’s broadcast therefore takes place on the opening day, putting Microsoft among the first major platform holders to outline its plans during the five-day event.
Microsoft is also continuing a visual tradition associated with its Tokyo Game Show appearances. The company’s recurring black cat mascot returns in the 2026 artwork, this time depicted crossing a Tokyo intersection beneath a green skyline. Xbox says fans will later be given the opportunity to vote on a name for the character through its social channels.
Accessibility remains part of the broadcast setup as well. The global stream will include American Sign Language and English Audio Descriptions, while additional subtitle and language support is planned after the live broadcast. Microsoft says the show itself will contain both Japanese and English audio, with localized options covering a wide range of languages afterward.
Xbox has increasingly used Tokyo Game Show to highlight games from Japanese and Asian developers alongside its own first-party releases. Microsoft says the number of studios and publishing partners it works with across Japan continues to grow, and the September broadcast is expected to reflect that regional focus. The company has not yet confirmed whether any new games will be announced during the presentation.
The Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast airs September 17 at 7:00 p.m. JST. With Minecraft Dungeons II, Modern Warfare 4, FanFest activities and unannounced TGS-exclusive content already promised, Microsoft’s Tokyo presence will extend beyond a single livestream and include both digital announcements and hands-on experiences throughout the event.
