XMG has launched the PRO 18 and PRO 18 VE, its first 18-inch laptops in roughly 15 years. Both models are available to order now and combine Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus processors with Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series laptop graphics, large 1600p displays and extensive upgrade options. Pricing starts at €2,849 for the Value Edition, while the higher-end PRO 18 begins at €3,299.
The standard XMG PRO 18 is the more powerful configuration, pairing Intel’s 24-core Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus with a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU. Nvidia’s GPU includes 12GB of GDDR7 memory and operates at up to 140W including Dynamic Boost. The laptop’s 18-inch IPS display runs at 2,560 x 1,600 with a 300Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of brightness and full coverage of both the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces.
The cheaper PRO 18 VE retains the same basic chassis but moves to a 20-core Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus and a refreshed GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 12GB of GDDR7 memory. Its graphics implementation runs at up to 115W including Dynamic Boost, while the 18-inch 1600p IPS panel drops to 180Hz. Brightness and colour coverage remain unchanged at 500 nits and 100% sRGB/DCI-P3, making the main compromises CPU, GPU and refresh rate rather than display resolution or colour quality.

Both laptops use a MUX switch and support Nvidia Optimus, allowing the internal display to switch between Intel integrated graphics and the discrete Nvidia GPU. Variable refresh rate is supported, with the PRO 18 covering 50-240Hz when Optimus is active and the PRO 18 VE supporting 48-180Hz. XMG also allows users to reduce the display refresh rate to 60Hz for lower power consumption.
Cooling is handled by two main fans plus a third smaller fan dedicated to memory cooling. XMG uses Honeywell PTM7958 phase-change material on the CPU and GPU, with the standard PRO 18 designed to sustain up to 205W of combined CPU and GPU power under suitable conditions. The company positions both machines as desktop-replacement systems for gaming and content creation rather than thin-and-light notebooks.
Expansion is unusually generous for a modern laptop. Both models support two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots with up to 128GB of memory, including CSO-DIMM modules running at up to 6400 MT/s, alongside two M.2 SSD slots. The primary SSD slot supports PCIe 5.0 x4 while the secondary slot runs at PCIe 4.0 x4, giving users room for up to 16TB of total storage depending on configuration.
Connectivity is similarly extensive. The laptops include Thunderbolt 4, another USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port, three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort 2.1, 2.5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 and a full-size SD Express card reader. XMG says up to four external displays can be driven natively, with HDMI and Mini DisplayPort connected to the discrete Nvidia GPU while the USB-C display outputs run through Intel’s integrated graphics.
Despite their size, the two models remain relatively restrained for 18-inch desktop replacements. The PRO 18 weighs about 2.9kg, while the PRO 18 VE comes in at roughly 2.82kg. Both include a 99.8Wh replaceable battery, an aluminium display lid, a large glass touchpad and a full-size keyboard with numeric keypad, offset arrow keys and RGB backlighting.
The PRO 18 starts at €3,299 with 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory and a 1TB SSD, while the PRO 18 VE starts at €2,849 with the same memory and storage configuration. XMG is also offering a 5% early-bird discount on both models through October 20. Their arrival marks the company’s return to the 18-inch category for the first time since its large desktop-replacement notebooks of 2011, this time with substantially more modern dimensions and hardware.
