Scopely is in the early stages of developing an unannounced cross-platform Strategy MMO based on what the company calls a “well-known IP.” Current job listings indicate that the project is being designed as a large-scale mobile live service using Unity, with support from external development partners.
The project appears across several Scopely vacancies rather than a single isolated posting. A Lead Technical Artist listing describes it as an “ambitious, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO featuring a well-known IP,” while a Partner Success Manager role outlines a formal relationship with the external owner of that intellectual property.
A licensed game with a substantial content pipeline
The Partner Success Manager will coordinate approvals between Scopely and the IP licensor. According to the listing, that process will cover creative assets, artwork, narrative material, established lore and game-design submissions.

That level of oversight suggests that the licence will shape more than the game’s name or visual branding. Narrative, art and design content must pass through a structured approval system before being integrated into production.
The listing also refers to release-readiness checks, submission bottlenecks and long-term partnership health. Those responsibilities are consistent with a live-service game expected to receive a continuing stream of licensed content after launch.
Scopely has not disclosed the IP. Its existing portfolio includes Monopoly, Marvel, Pokémon, Star Trek, WWE, Scrabble and other major properties, but none of those names can responsibly be attached to the unannounced game without additional evidence.
Unity, mobile constraints and cross-platform ambitions
The Lead Technical Artist position describes the title as a large-scale mobile live-service game and requires strong experience developing workflows for Unity. Responsibilities include optimizing shaders, materials, animation, memory usage, loading and asset size.
Those requirements expose one of the project’s central challenges. A Strategy MMO may need to display large bases, maps, armies, characters or interface systems while remaining usable across devices with widely different hardware capabilities.
Scopely is therefore recruiting a technical-art leader to establish performance budgets and manage a team of approximately six to nine technical artists, technical animators and riggers. The role will also coordinate with outsourcing and co-development partners across multiple time zones.
“Cross-platform” does not confirm specific versions for PC or consoles. The wording establishes an intention to serve more than one platform, but Scopely has not publicly named those platforms.

Why the project matters
Licensed Strategy MMOs depend heavily on long-term content production. Players expect new characters, events, stories and competitive systems, while licensors expect every addition to remain consistent with the underlying franchise.
The disclosed approval structure shows how those competing demands will be managed. Scopely must produce updates quickly enough to sustain a live audience, but it cannot freely alter protected characters or lore without partner review.
For players, the result could be a game with substantial franchise authenticity. The same approval process could also slow development when creative and commercial priorities differ—a possibility directly acknowledged by the listing’s reference to conflict resolution between the IP partner and the game’s creative direction.
The vacancies repeatedly describe the title as being in early development, so a near-term release should not be assumed. Scopely is still building leadership, technical pipelines and its relationship-management structure.
What can be confirmed is that the company is constructing a sizeable Unity-based Strategy MMO around a major external licence, with mobile live-service development, cross-platform ambitions and substantial partner oversight at its core.
