Fortnite’s next season could become one of the game’s largest celebrations of gaming history. Files added through the July 30 v41.30 update reportedly contain references to Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona 5, Mega Man, Tetris, Pac-Man and other video-game properties, strengthening reports that Chapter 7 Season 4 will carry a Gaming Legends theme.

Dataminers ShiinaBR and HypeX reportedly discovered the references among encrypted files associated with upcoming Fortnite content. The identified names include Sonic, Dr. Eggman, Persona 5 protagonist Joker, Mega Man, Tetris and Pac-Man, alongside files connected to additional unannounced crossovers.

However, the findings do not establish exactly how each franchise will appear. Sonic, Joker and Mega Man could become playable outfits, but a property such as Tetris may be represented through back bling, emotes, weapons, environment designs or another type of cosmetic rather than a character skin. Epic Games has not announced the reported lineup, so it should still be treated as leaked information rather than a confirmed seasonal roadmap.

The July 30 discovery adds weight to leaks that circulated earlier in the month. On July 22, reporting based on information from HypeX and other Fortnite leakers suggested that Chapter 7 Season 4 would focus heavily on crossovers with established gaming franchises. Earlier names connected to the season included Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, Persona, Vampire Survivors and several smaller gaming properties, while Mega Man remained in the rumour category at that stage.

The new files are significant because they appear to connect several previously separate rumours to content now present within Fortnite’s own update data. That does not guarantee every referenced collaboration will launch during Season 4, as developers frequently add, test, postpone or abandon unreleased assets. Nevertheless, the appearance of multiple gaming brands in the same update makes the broader Gaming Legends theme increasingly credible.

Fortnite already uses the “Gaming Legends Series” label for cosmetics originating from other video games. Previous additions have included Master Chief from Halo, Kratos from God of War, Lara Croft, Doom Slayer, Geralt of Rivia, Solid Snake and characters from Resident Evil and Street Fighter. One recent estimate placed the number of external gaming characters represented as Fortnite outfits at nearly 70.

A complete season built around that category would be more ambitious than Fortnite’s usual approach of introducing gaming collaborations individually through the Item Shop or occasional Battle Pass placements. It could allow Epic to combine several publishers and audiences under one seasonal marketing campaign while giving each franchise different forms of representation.

The leak may also connect to the end of the current season. Datamined material reportedly points to a Chapter 7 Season 3 mini-event called “Unstable,” with teaser imagery and possible appearances involving Sonic and Dr. Eggman. Those references suggest the finale could introduce the gaming-focused direction before the next season begins.

Epic has confirmed only that a new Battle Royale season will arrive near the end of the summer, with the competitive calendar adjusted around that transition. Until official trailers, Battle Pass artwork or publisher announcements appear, the exact characters and cosmetics remain uncertain. The July 30 files provide the strongest evidence so far, but Epic’s formal reveal will determine which gaming icons actually enter Fortnite and which references were merely part of development or future planning.
