Microsoft has announced the release of World Update 23: Poland and the Baltics for Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing enhanced scenery, handcrafted airports and new flying activities to Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The update introduces improvements to several major cities alongside 77 new points of interest across the region.
The release was announced through Xbox Wire on October 26, 2026, following its initial reveal during Microsoft’s September developer livestream. World Update 23 focuses on one of the simulator’s most frequently requested geographical regions, giving players more detailed environments to explore in both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
The update includes 12 new areas of interest, five handcrafted airports and 77 individually recreated landmarks. Microsoft has also confirmed updated photogrammetry for six cities: Tallinn in Estonia, Riga in Latvia, Kaunas and Vilnius in Lithuania, and Gdańsk and Warsaw in Poland.

These improvements are intended to provide more accurate representations of the region’s urban environments and recognizable geographical features. Updated photogrammetry allows buildings and city landscapes to be recreated using photographic data, while handcrafted landmarks provide additional detail at notable locations.
Among the Polish landmarks highlighted during the update’s earlier presentation are Książ Castle, Frombork Cathedral, the Sopot Pier area, the Silesian Planetarium and the Kasprowy Wierch cable car station in the Tatra Mountains. The scenery additions expand the range of recognizable destinations available to pilots flying across Central and Eastern Europe.
World Update 23 also introduces new activities tailored to the two supported simulator versions.
Both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 receive three Discovery Flights, offering structured opportunities to explore the updated scenery. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 additionally receives five Precision Landing activities, a Rally Race Challenge and a Guided Tour.
Players using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 receive four Landing Challenges alongside the Discovery Flights. The activities provide different ways to experience the new environments beyond conventional free-flight exploration.
Microsoft previously identified Poland and the Baltic states as the most requested region for a World Update following the release of its Brazil scenery update in 2025. The latest geographical expansion addresses that longstanding community request with improvements extending across four countries.
The company also announced the Antonov An-28, developed by AT Simulations, as Local Legend 26 to accompany the regional update. The aircraft is a separate addition to the simulator’s Local Legends series rather than one of World Update 23’s scenery improvements.
World Update 23 continues Microsoft’s program of expanding the simulator’s recreated world through regional scenery enhancements, improved airports and location-specific activities. For players interested in flying across Poland and the Baltic countries, the new content adds more detailed city environments, recognizable landmarks and structured flight challenges.
