Rockstar Games has officially released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, giving players the most substantial official look yet at GTA VI ahead of its November 19, 2026 launch.
The presentation premiered on Netflix at 3:00 PM ET on August 27 as part of a first-of-its-kind partnership between Rockstar and the streaming service. Rockstar confirmed shortly after the scheduled start that the Extended Look was available to watch on Netflix.
Netflix’s listing places the presentation at roughly 26 minutes, making it dramatically longer than either of GTA VI’s previous numbered trailers. The Netflix runtime data has also been reported as approximately 26 minutes and 49 seconds.
More importantly, Netflix confirmed ahead of the premiere that the entire Extended Look was captured from in-game footage running on PlayStation 5. That distinguishes the presentation from a conventional cinematic trailer and gives players their clearest official indication yet of how Rockstar’s next open-world game looks during actual gameplay.
Netflix described the footage as showcasing what it calls the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series to date. Rockstar had deliberately revealed few specifics about the contents of the Extended Look before its release, referring to it simply as a deeper look at the game rather than outlining individual mechanics or missions beforehand.
The Netflix premiere also marks an unusual distribution strategy for a major game reveal. The Extended Look is initially available to Netflix subscribers before becoming freely available later in the day through Rockstar’s own channels.
Rockstar previously confirmed that the presentation will be released on its official YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website at 9:00 PM ET, six hours after the Netflix premiere. That means players without a Netflix subscription will still be able to watch the complete presentation later on August 27.
The Extended Look arrives at a particularly important point in GTA VI’s marketing campaign. Rockstar opened pre-orders in June and has already confirmed multiple editions of the game, but extended official gameplay footage had remained limited compared with the amount of information revealed through trailers, screenshots and character profiles.
GTA VI follows Jason Duval and Lucia as they become caught up in a criminal conspiracy across the fictional state of Leonida. Vice City returns as the central setting, surrounded by a much broader region that Rockstar has gradually introduced through official screenshots and character descriptions.
Jason’s background includes a period in the Army before he became involved with local drug runners in the Keys, while Lucia’s story places her alongside Jason as the pair attempt to survive after an apparently straightforward score goes wrong. Rockstar has consistently presented their relationship as the core of GTA VI’s story.
The timing of the official Extended Look is also significant because GTA VI has recently been affected by another wave of unauthorized gameplay leaks. Rockstar addressed the leaks before the presentation, describing the situation as painful for the development team while asking players to experience the game through the studio’s intended releases.
The Netflix presentation now provides a current, officially selected look at the game rather than footage taken from older or unauthorized development material.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date.
