Fortnite Sonic Power Hours Bring Storm Scout Sprite and Rare Loot

Fortnite’s Sonic-themed Power Hours are running on August 29, bringing the debut of the Storm Scout Sprite alongside increased appearances for Sonic, Tails and Shadow Sprites.

Epic Games confirmed the limited-time event through its official Fortnite community page, with two separate two-hour sessions scheduled during the day.

The first Power Hour ran from 2 PM to 4 PM ET, while a second session is scheduled from 9 PM to 11 PM ET.

During those windows, the Sonic crossover takes over a larger share of Fortnite’s Sprite ecosystem.

Epic says Sonic, Tails and Shadow Sprites appear more frequently during the event, including their available variants.

The biggest new addition is the Storm Scout Sprite, which makes its debut specifically during this weekend’s Power Hours.

Sprites are collectible helpers introduced as part of Fortnite’s current Battle Royale systems.

Players can equip them during a match to gain a unique Sprite Power and can strengthen them by surviving, exploring and getting eliminations.

That makes increased spawn rates particularly useful for players trying to find specific Sonic-themed Sprites or build progress with rarer variants.

The Power Hours also improve access to Sonic Power Sneakers.

Epic says the sneakers have a boosted chance of appearing from Chests during the event, giving players more opportunities to use the Sonic-themed mobility item.

The event contains a couple of much rarer surprises as well.

According to Epic’s official event description, 1-Up Tokens and Portable Extractors can appear from Chests as rare finds during the Power Hours.

That adds another incentive to loot aggressively during the limited windows rather than simply searching for Sprites.

The current event follows Fortnite’s growing use of scheduled Power Hours to temporarily alter Battle Royale loot and spawn behavior.

Instead of leaving the same content active for an entire weekend, Epic concentrates certain items and characters into defined time periods, creating short windows where specific strategies and collectibles become easier to pursue.

For the Sonic event, that means players looking for the crossover’s Sprites have significantly better odds than during normal Battle Royale matches.

The timing is also notable because the Storm Scout Sprite was not part of the regular lineup before August 29.

Dataminers had identified the Sprite ahead of the event, but Epic has now officially enabled and promoted it as part of the live Power Hours.

That turns what was previously backend information into confirmed playable content.

Fortnite’s current season has put Sprites at the center of its Battle Royale progression.

Epic’s support documentation describes them as battlefield helpers that grant special abilities while being carried.

Players can level them during a match, while defeated players can drop their Sprite for someone else to pick up.

The system creates an additional risk-and-reward layer around collecting rare variants and extracting with them safely.

Sonic’s crossover has become one of the more prominent parts of that system, with Sonic, Tails and Shadow represented through their own Sprite forms.

The August 29 event temporarily pushes those characters further into the spotlight while also giving players access to the new Storm Scout option.

Players who missed the first session still have another opportunity.

The second Sonic Power Hour begins at 9 PM ET on August 29 and runs until 11 PM ET, equivalent to 1 AM to 3 AM UTC on August 30.

During that period, the same increased Sonic Sprite spawns, boosted Sonic Power Sneaker drops and rare 1-Up Token and Portable Extractor appearances will be active again.

For players specifically hunting the Sonic crossover content, the Power Hours are currently the best window to do it.
