According to Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe (known as tvPH on YouTube), old-school Ubisoft games could make their way to the Nintendo Switch in 2025.

The move is seen as a way to tap into the massive player base of the current Switch console while Nintendo focuses on the development of its next-gen handheld. As Nintendo shifts its attention to the successor, the company reportedly plans to rely more on third-party publishers like Ubisoft to keep the Switch’s game library robust.

Ubisoft has recently faced significant challenges, but despite those setbacks, Ubisoft continues to move forward with its game development plans, as Pedro Henrique claims that Ubisoft is preparing to release remasters of older games on the Nintendo Switch in 2025.

Importance: Releasing old-school games on the Nintendo Switch could serve as a smart move for Ubisoft, allowing the company to further solidify its presence on the platform and potentially pave the way for even larger projects in the future.

One of these is said to be a remaster of Splinter Cell Blacklist, a project that is separate from the previously announced Splinter Cell remake. Another game being remastered is Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, which originally launched in 2003.

Pedro also speculated that the Rayman 3 remaster might not be the same project recently rumored to be under development by the now-disbanded team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. While he didn’t confirm the names of two additional Ubisoft titles planned for the Switch, he assured viewers that their production is ongoing.

Pedro also noted that these remastered games will likely be released on other platforms as well. Beyond Ubisoft, Pedro mentioned that Nintendo is also collaborating with other third-party publishers to keep the Switch lineup strong.

Bandai Namco and EA are reportedly working on projects to support the console, with long-standing rumors suggesting that Bandai Namco is remastering a Nintendo title, speculated to be Kid Icarus. Additionally, Pedro teased that Nintendo is planning more remasters for 2025, including the already confirmed Donkey Kong Country Returns HD.

He hinted at two more remastered games, one originally from the GameCube and the other from the Nintendo 3DS, but stopped short of revealing specific titles. Pedro had previously shared information in May, stating that the Switch would receive two major titles in 2025.

Although Pedro Henrique has a reliable track record, it’s essential to remember that these details are still unconfirmed rumors. Therefore, it’s wise to approach them with caution for now.

However, if they turn out to be true we are going to be pretty excited but seeing the recent state of Ubisoft we are also quite hesitant as Ubisoft has faced significant challenges recently, including Star Wars Outlaws underperformance in sales, leading to a decline in Ubisoft’s stock price and prompted a comprehensive internal review of the company’s operations.

This review has resulted in the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was originally scheduled for release on November 15 but is now expected to launch on February 14, 2025. Amid these difficulties, there has been speculation that Ubisoft may go private with support from Tencent.

Nonetheless, we hope for the best and wish that if the games are actually taking place, they are done with the same spirit the original titles were released.
