Fortnite Leak Points to Second Epic Games Store Collab

Fortnite appears to have another Epic Games Store crossover waiting to be revealed after dataminers found two encrypted collaboration sets in the v42.10 files. One of those has now been identified as Walter Irons from John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, whose Fortnite appearance has been officially announced by Epic Games. The second is reportedly a cel-shaded male Outfit, but its identity remains unconfirmed.

The discovery was shared by Fortnite leak account ShiinaBR following the September 3 update. According to the datamine, both encrypted sets are associated with Epic Games Store collaborations, with Walter Irons occupying one of them and the other containing an unidentified male character rendered in a cel-shaded style. Because the second set remains encrypted, its character name, cosmetics and release timing have not been directly exposed.

Walter Irons provides useful confirmation that the broader datamine is tied to real promotional activity. Epic Games has officially announced that players who purchase or pre-purchase John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando through the Epic Games Store will receive the Walter Irons Outfit in Fortnite beginning September 5 at 8 PM ET. The Outfit will also be sold separately through the Fortnite Shop from September 5 through September 12.

Epic’s promotion applies to purchases of Toxic Commando through its PC storefront, although the Fortnite reward can be used on other connected platforms once it reaches the player’s Locker. Epic also says players who buy the Walter Irons Outfit first and later qualify for the purchase promotion can receive a one-time 1,500 V-Bucks credit instead. The crossover therefore functions as both a conventional Fortnite Shop release and an incentive for purchasing another game through the Epic Games Store.

The identity of the second encrypted character is considerably less certain. Some Fortnite leak accounts have suggested that it could be Hiroshi Jackson from Screamer, primarily because the character has previously been connected to Fortnite’s current Gaming Legends-heavy season and would fit the reported cel-shaded appearance. That connection has not been established by the encrypted files themselves, however, so Hiroshi Jackson should currently be treated as speculation rather than the confirmed subject of the second promotion.

Screamer has already been associated with Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 through material surrounding Override, which has placed a heavy emphasis on gaming crossovers. That makes the theory plausible, but it is not enough to identify the encrypted Outfit on its own. Epic Games has not announced a Screamer Epic Games Store promotion or detailed any corresponding Fortnite reward at the time of writing.

The distinction matters because encrypted Fortnite packages deliberately hide information until Epic is ready for a release or promotional reveal. Dataminers can sometimes determine metadata such as cosmetic types, associated storefront systems or the number of assets inside a package without being able to expose the character itself. In this case, the available information points toward a second male cel-shaded collaboration, but not conclusively toward any particular game.

Fortnite has increasingly been used as an incentive across Epic’s broader storefront ecosystem, allowing purchases of selected games to unlock corresponding cosmetics inside Battle Royale. Walter Irons is the latest confirmed example, linking Toxic Commando directly with Fortnite while still making the Outfit available independently through the Item Shop. A second encrypted promotion appearing in the same update suggests Epic is preparing another similar campaign rather than treating Walter as an isolated case.

For now, Walter Irons is confirmed while the second collaboration remains a leak. Its cel-shaded male Outfit and apparent Epic Games Store connection provide enough information to show that another promotion is likely being prepared, but the character’s identity cannot yet be stated with certainty. Epic could clarify that mystery through a storefront announcement or by decrypting the cosmetic set in a future Fortnite update.
