Of Ash and Steel is expanding beyond PC, with publisher tinyBuild announcing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the open-world action RPG alongside a new DLC expansion titled Shattered Faith. The announcement marks the first confirmed console release for Fire & Frost’s RPG after the developer previously said it would consider bringing the game to additional platforms following its PC launch. Release dates for the console versions and the DLC have not yet been announced.
Of Ash and Steel originally launched for PC in November 2025, with Fire & Frost describing it as a modern take on the structure and freedom of older role-playing games. Players explore the island of Grayshaft as Tristan, a cartographer who is gradually drawn into the conflicts surrounding the Kingdom of the Seven. The game emphasizes exploration without conventional quest markers, allowing players to discover characters, locations and objectives by paying attention to dialogue and the environment.
Combat also develops alongside Tristan rather than presenting him as an experienced warrior from the opening hours. Players can build proficiency with different weapons and combat styles while investing in attributes and skills, with progression intended to reflect his transformation over the course of the adventure. Exploration can lead to hidden areas, side quests, enemies and loot, while factions and player decisions shape parts of the wider journey.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S announcement represents a significant change from the game’s previous platform status. Fire & Frost had previously kept the possibility of console versions open without committing to them, saying after the PC launch that the team would consider the move in the future. The newly confirmed ports mean players on current-generation consoles will eventually be able to access a game that has so far remained limited to Windows PCs.
TinyBuild also used the announcement to reveal Shattered Faith, a new DLC expansion for Of Ash and Steel. The publisher has not yet provided a full breakdown of the expansion’s story, size or gameplay systems, but its announcement confirms that Fire & Frost is moving beyond the patches and smaller updates that have supported the game since launch. More details about the DLC’s content and how it fits into the existing campaign are expected closer to release.
That continued support follows a series of substantial post-launch updates. Fire & Frost has spent much of 2026 addressing technical issues while also adding gameplay improvements, including changes to controller support, performance, user interface elements, progression and quality-of-life systems. Patch 1.08, for example, introduced major controller improvements, Immersive Mode, active map markers and additional aiming options while addressing a large amount of technical debt accumulated during development.
The game’s console expansion also places it among a growing group of PC-first RPGs making their way to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S after building an audience on Steam. The move is particularly relevant for Of Ash and Steel because improved controller support has been one of Fire & Frost’s major post-launch priorities, providing groundwork that should also benefit the upcoming console editions. No Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 version was announced as part of the latest reveal.
TinyBuild has not confirmed whether Shattered Faith will launch simultaneously with the console versions or whether the DLC will arrive separately. Pricing, editions and upgrade options also remain unannounced, and it is not yet clear whether existing PC players will receive any related free content alongside the expansion. Those details will likely determine how closely the next phase of post-launch support is tied to the console rollout.
Of Ash and Steel is currently available on PC, while the newly announced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are in development. Shattered Faith will expand the game further with new paid content, although tinyBuild and Fire & Frost have yet to provide a release window. The combined announcement gives the RPG its biggest expansion since launch, bringing it to two new platforms while establishing that substantial new content is also on the way.
