Nearly 15 minutes of fresh Crazy Taxi: World Tour gameplay footage has surfaced following Sega’s closed network test, providing a substantial new look at the game’s multiplayer running on PC. The footage, published by VGC, focuses on the competitive online side of Sega’s upcoming franchise revival and shows gameplay from the limited test held from September 11 through September 13. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently scheduled to launch in 2027.
The closed test gave selected players access to two online multiplayer modes: Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies. Pickup Race supports up to six players competing to pick up passengers and deliver them to destinations while earning as much money as possible before the timer runs out. The new footage shows how that traditional Crazy Taxi objective changes when several drivers are simultaneously racing through the same streets for passengers and routes.
Cops ‘N’ Cabbies takes a more team-based approach, splitting players between taxis and police vehicles. Sega describes the mode as a showdown between Cabbies and Cops rather than a straightforward passenger-delivery race, giving World Tour a multiplayer option built around direct competition between the two sides. Both modes will support Ranked Matches as well as Custom Matches, allowing players either to compete through matchmaking or create games using their own rules.

The network test itself included two maps, six vehicles and four playable drivers, along with a selection of vehicle customization options. Sega made clear that the build represented only part of the game’s multiplayer content and did not include its single-player campaign. The test was specifically designed to evaluate online stability ahead of launch, so features, balance and performance seen in the footage may still change before the final version arrives.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour is much broader than its multiplayer component. Sega says the main game will include a story-driven World Tour campaign following Axel as he attempts to recover his stolen taxi from a mysterious organization while traveling across five cities. Players will complete passenger runs alongside unusual side missions and challenges, while the series’ traditional arcade-style gameplay is also returning through a dedicated Arcade Mode.
The revival retains the high-speed driving that defined the original games, including aggressive drifting, large jumps and shortcuts through busy city environments. World Tour also expands vehicle progression, allowing players to unlock and customize multiple rides rather than remaining tied to a single cab. Sega has been positioning multiplayer as an additional way to extend the experience rather than replacing the series’ single-player focus.
Producer Kenji Kanno, who directed the original Crazy Taxi, has previously said that multiplayer was something players requested even during the franchise’s early years but was difficult to implement with the technology available at the time. World Tour’s development team now includes staff experienced with multiplayer games, allowing Sega to finally build competitive online modes around the series’ established passenger-delivery formula. Kanno has also stressed that the primary emphasis remains on the single-player experience.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour represents Sega’s full-scale return to a franchise that first appeared in arcades in 1999 before becoming closely associated with the Dreamcast. The new game was formally unveiled in June 2026 after Sega had previously confirmed that Crazy Taxi was among several legacy properties being revived. The announcement trailer also confirmed the return of The Offspring’s music, another recognizable part of the series’ identity.
The recent network test was available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam, while the full game is also planned for Nintendo Switch 2. Cross-platform multiplayer is listed among the game’s features, although Sega has not yet detailed every online mode that will be available at launch. The final PC requirements may also change from those used for the test build.
With the network test now concluded, the newly released footage offers one of the clearest demonstrations so far of how Crazy Taxi’s arcade formula translates into competitive multiplayer. Pickup Race stays close to the familiar goal of rapidly transporting passengers, while Cops ‘N’ Cabbies pushes the series into a more direct team-based format. Crazy Taxi: World Tour remains scheduled for 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
