Remedy Entertainment has detailed how Control Resonant will run on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro ahead of its September 24 launch, including separate performance and quality modes, ray tracing on PS5 Pro and extensive DualSense support. The standard PS5 version offers a 60fps Performance mode targeting 1440p and a 30fps Quality mode targeting 2160p. PS5 Pro adds a third Balanced option alongside higher-resolution performance targets.

On PS5 Pro, Performance mode targets 60fps at 2160p using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, while Quality mode targets 30fps at 2160p and enables ray tracing. Players with a 120Hz-compatible display can also use Balanced mode, which targets 40fps at 2160p while retaining ray tracing. Remedy says Control Resonant was designed around 60fps from early development because responsiveness is especially important to its new close-range combat system.

The sequel shifts the focus from Jesse Faden to Dylan Faden and moves much of the action beyond the Oldest House into a distorted version of Manhattan. Remedy says the city is divided into visually distinct Zones, while fast travel between them is designed to be almost instantaneous. Players can also move quickly between Manhattan and the Gap, a mental space where Dylan can unlock upgrades, craft Artifacts and modify his shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant.

The PS5 version will also make extensive use of the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers. Remedy says Dylan’s paranatural abilities produce different levels of resistance depending on the action being performed, including Barrage, which fires projectiles at enemies, and Volatile Anomaly, which creates a turret-like ally that can later be thrown and detonated. The intent is to make different abilities feel mechanically distinct through the controller rather than using identical trigger feedback for every attack.

Control Resonant will also support 3D Audio when played with a compatible headset. Remedy describes the feature as another layer of spatial immersion for its altered Manhattan, where environmental threats and combat can surround the player. PS5 Activities will track progress through the main story, while Game Help is scheduled to be added after launch.

Remedy estimates the main story will take roughly 25 to 35 hours to complete, with additional content extending that figure for completionists. The developer has previously detailed an expanded Assist Mode with customizable combat settings, allowing players to modify specific aspects of difficulty rather than selecting only a conventional preset. Those options include settings that can either reduce or increase the challenge, while trophies remain available regardless of Assist Mode use.

The technical breakdown arrives shortly before launch and follows other details surfacing about the PS5 release. Backend information has indicated that Control Resonant’s PS5 download is around 89 GB, with preload timing varying by edition. Remedy has not used its latest PlayStation Blog post to confirm that file size, instead focusing on performance modes and platform-specific features.

Control Resonant is built on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight engine, which the studio says received substantial new technology for the sequel. Although the PlayStation Blog post lists target output resolutions, Remedy also stressed that it considers the overall visual presentation and art direction more important than resolution figures in isolation. The new PS5 Pro modes give players three distinct combinations of frame rate, output resolution and ray tracing depending on their display and preferences.

The standard PS5 therefore offers the simpler choice between 1440p at 60fps or 2160p at 30fps, while PS5 Pro expands that to 2160p at 60fps, 2160p at 30fps with ray tracing, or 2160p at 40fps with ray tracing on compatible 120Hz displays. Control Resonant launches September 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Mac versions planned later in 2026.
