Serenity Forge has announced Faraday Blues, a surreal science-fiction visual novel and strategy card game coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2027. The game made its world premiere during Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast, where Serenity Forge introduced its time-altering story and card-based decision system. Xbox Cloud Gaming support is also planned, while the Xbox and Microsoft Store versions will support Xbox Play Anywhere.

Faraday Blues follows Lina, a mysterious girl who awakens in an unfamiliar place and discovers an old computer connected to a strange tabletop covered in cards. Two of those cards depict her parents, but neither of them knows that Lina exists, and their lives are already filled with tragedies she wants to prevent. Her response is to repeatedly reset events and manipulate the people, relationships and circumstances that shaped her family’s history.

The game’s cards do not function like conventional combat cards. Instead, its 52-card deck represents characters, memories, items and pieces of the Faraday family’s past, allowing players to place people into conversations, locations and major events before entering the resulting timeline. Moving one character into a particular interaction can change a relationship or prevent one event while leaving that person unavailable when another critical moment occurs.

Those changes can persist across the wider story rather than disappearing when an individual scene ends. Characters can move toward either Order or Entropy, change suits, transform into different shapes and acquire memories or items that alter how they behave later. Serenity Forge says these systems are designed around trade-offs, meaning apparently fixing one tragedy can create another problem elsewhere in the timeline.

Faraday Blues is structured around three interconnected visual novels set across different eras of the same family. Each period has its own visual presentation, atmosphere and version of the apartment Lina explores, but choices made in one era carry into the next through relationships, character states, memories and objects. By the third story, players are dealing with the accumulated consequences of decisions made throughout the earlier timelines.

Serenity Forge says the game contains 64 endings, with only some representing outcomes that could reasonably be considered victories. Reaching certain conditions can also unlock a hidden fourth timeline, where players can investigate the motives of a suspicious trillionaire and make choices capable of affecting the wider universe. The developer is intentionally keeping some additional mechanics, transformations and hidden conditions secret ahead of release.

The project is being directed by Serenity Forge founder Zhenghua Yang, who described Faraday Blues as a personal story built around the desire to mentally rewrite moments from the past even when changing them is impossible. Yang is working alongside co-creator and lead artist Satchely, known for her character artwork on Doki Doki Literature Club, and narrative director Kevin Ye. Kris Wilson, the creator of Cyanide & Happiness, is composing music for the game.

Nichole Goodnight, whose voice work includes Slay the Princess, is also part of the cast, although Serenity Forge has not yet revealed her character or the rest of the voice lineup. The studio describes Faraday Blues as ultimately being about people and relationships despite its strange technology, shifting realities and card-driven structure. Its science-fiction systems are being used to explore how changing one person’s experiences can reshape an entire family across generations.

The PC version is already listed on Steam, where its tags include visual novel, mystery, deckbuilding, psychological horror and choices matter. The store page lists English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese language support and notes mature story content involving subjects including death, gun violence, physical violence and poisoning. Serenity Forge’s official game page also lists Steam, PlayStation and Xbox as supported platforms.

Faraday Blues is planned for release in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Serenity Forge has not announced a more specific launch date or pricing, but players can already wishlist the game as development continues.
