New Witchbrook gameplay footage from Tokyo Game Show 2026 has surfaced online, providing one of the most substantial looks yet at Chucklefish’s long-awaited magical life sim. Videos and media previews from the event show exploration around Mossport, broomstick travel, fishing, gardening, foraging, home customization and character creation. Some longer uploads were subsequently made private, although other footage from the same TGS preview sessions remains available through participating outlets.

The material comes from hands-on sessions held by Chucklefish for media and industry attendees at Tokyo Game Show. 4Gamer reports that it played a roughly 30-minute build that was described as being very close to the final release version, while Inven Global spent around 40 minutes with the demo. Both previews describe an open-ended slice of the game in which players could move between Witchbrook College and the surrounding town rather than following a tightly scripted demonstration.

One of the clearest systems shown is Witchbrook’s approach to magic. Instead of activating every spell with a single button, players trace patterns on a magical circle using the controller, giving actions such as summoning a broom or interacting with the environment a more deliberate input. Inven Global’s hands-on notes that the same system is used repeatedly during everyday activities, making spellcasting part of the wider life-sim loop rather than something reserved for major story moments.

The demo also demonstrates how activities outside the classroom contribute to the player’s magical education. Fishing, gathering materials and studying with other characters can increase knowledge or develop skills connected to different magical disciplines. Who the player studies with and where those sessions take place can affect what is learned, tying the relationship system more directly into progression.

Movement around Mossport appears to be similarly integrated with everyday tasks. Players can summon a broom and fly across town, including while completing jobs such as delivering mail. Footage also shows slower activities including fishing, examining objects, collecting resources and tending to plants, reinforcing Chucklefish’s description of Witchbrook as a life sim rather than a traditional action-focused RPG.

Character customization received a particularly extensive showing in one of the uploaded videos. Community users reported that a roughly 22-minute recording focused on character creation before it was later made private, while shorter clips from TGS continued circulating afterward. Other recordings showed interior decoration and gardening alongside exploration, giving a broader picture of how players will be able to personalize their home and surroundings.

The TGS build also provides more context for Witchbrook’s basic structure. The game places players in the seaside town of Mossport as a new witch attending Witchbrook College, but progression is not confined to scheduled lessons. Players can spend time socializing, taking jobs, exploring, crafting, gathering materials and developing relationships, with those activities feeding back into their magical abilities and knowledge.

Chucklefish’s official materials confirm that Witchbrook supports up to four players and is being developed alongside Robotality. The game is planned for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox, with a 2026 release window currently listed by the developer. Chucklefish has not announced a specific launch date.

The new footage is notable because Witchbrook has spent years in development and relatively little extended gameplay had been publicly available before TGS 2026. While several of the early uploads were apparently removed or made private, multiple media outlets independently played the same build and documented its systems in detail. Taken together, the footage and hands-on reports provide the clearest look so far at how Witchbrook’s school life, magic, exploration and everyday simulation mechanics fit together.
