Fortnite may eventually add additional variants for its Mega Man Sprite, according to newly surfaced game data found by dataminer FireMonkey. The files contain unfinished references to Cheat Master, Gold and Loot Hacker versions of the Sprite, despite Mega Man currently being available only in its standard form. Epic Games has not announced any of these variants, so the entries could represent future content, abandoned work or leftover data that never becomes obtainable.
FireMonkey flagged the unfinished variant data on September 22, noting that Mega Man appears to have entries matching the same variant structure used by other Sprites. The dataminer specifically identified Cheat Master, Gold and Loot Hacker versions, while also cautioning that Epic may have scrapped plans to release them. That distinction is important because Fortnite routinely contains assets and configuration data for content that changes or is removed before reaching the live game.
At present, Mega Man remains unusual among Fortnite’s current Sprite lineup. Community tracking sites that catalog live Sprite variants list Mega Man only in his normal form, while other Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprites commonly have additional Gold, Cheat Master and Loot Hacker versions. Those live listings reinforce that the newly discovered Mega Man entries are not currently obtainable content, even if some of the underlying data already exists.
The Mega Man Sprite arrived during Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 as part of Epic’s wider Mega Man crossover. Its ability reduces friction while sliding, allowing players to travel farther as the Sprite levels up during a match. The crossover also introduced Mega Man-related cosmetics, while Fortnite’s Mega Man crossover trailer showcased Mega Man, X and Zero before their Item Shop arrival.
The potential variants follow Fortnite’s current approach of applying alternate forms to many Sprites. Gold, Cheat Master and Loot Hacker versions can add separate bonuses on top of a Sprite’s underlying ability, while different seasons have also used other variant types. Mega Man has so far been an exception to that pattern, which makes the presence of matching unfinished data more notable than if the same entries had been found for a Sprite that already supported them.
The datamine does not reveal how the variants would be obtained if they are eventually enabled. There is also no confirmed release date, quest, event or shop offering connected to the Mega Man entries. Unless Epic exposes them through a future update, the files alone cannot establish whether the variants are part of an upcoming content plan or simply remnants from development.
Fortnite’s files frequently provide an early look at features before Epic publicly announces them, but not every discovery reaches the live game. Recent examples include a datamined Game Selection Screen test and references to custom Battle Pass offers, both of which illustrate how backend and asset discoveries can reveal experiments well before their final status is known. The same caution applies here: data can confirm that work existed without confirming that players will ever receive it.
For now, the Mega Man Sprite remains available only in its normal form in Fortnite. FireMonkey’s discovery shows that Cheat Master, Gold and Loot Hacker variants have at least existed in unfinished data, but Epic has not confirmed that they are coming to the game. Any future update that activates those entries would turn Mega Man into a closer match for the wider Season 4 Sprite variant system.
