Aspyr has announced Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing both Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War to Nintendo’s current hardware. The collection launches worldwide on September 30 and includes the Game of the Year Edition of Shadow of Mordor alongside the Definitive Edition of Shadow of War. Both games will also be available separately rather than requiring players to purchase the complete bundle.
The release brings Monolith Productions’ two Middle-earth action games to a Nintendo platform for the first time. Both titles center on the Nemesis System, which dynamically creates enemy Orcs with individual traits, relationships and memories based on the player’s encounters with them. Rivals can remember previous battles, react to victories and defeats, and develop into recurring enemies or followers as the campaign progresses.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition includes the base 2014 game and its post-launch content. The package contains the Lord of the Hunt and The Bright Lord story missions, the Guardians of the Flaming Eye Warband mission, additional Warband missions, runes and character skins. Players control Talion, a Gondorian ranger bound to the spirit of Celebrimbor, as the pair pursue Sauron’s forces across Mordor.

Shadow of War expands that formula with larger-scale fortress battles and a more elaborate version of the Nemesis System. Its Definitive Edition includes the Blade of Galadriel and Desolation of Mordor story expansions alongside the Slaughter Tribe and Outlaw Tribe Nemesis expansions. Those additions introduce new playable characters, Orc tribes, missions, enemies, followers, equipment and changes to the game’s fortresses and wilderness areas.
Aspyr’s announcement specifically highlights the opportunity to experience the Nemesis System on Switch 2. The technology was one of the defining features of Monolith’s Middle-earth games, generating individualized Orc hierarchies that changed based on player actions. Warner Bros. patented elements of the system in 2021, and the mechanic remains closely associated with the Shadow series despite no new entry having been released since Shadow of War in 2017.
The Switch 2 ports join a growing number of older and current-generation games being adapted for Nintendo’s newer hardware. Recent announcements have included Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Royal Edition, as publishers continue expanding their catalogs onto the platform. Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle differs by packaging two complete releases from the previous console generation into a single collection.
Shadow of Mordor originally launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in September 2014, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions following later that year. Shadow of War arrived in October 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Aspyr is handling publishing duties for the new Switch 2 versions, while Monolith Productions remains credited as the original developer.
The announcement did not detail Switch 2-specific performance targets such as resolution or frame rate, nor did Aspyr outline any platform-exclusive gameplay additions. The focus is instead on bringing the complete versions of both games, including their expansion content, to the system. That means players will receive the full story and Nemesis content associated with the existing Game of the Year and Definitive editions.
Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle launches digitally for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 30. Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Shadow of War Definitive Edition will also be sold individually, giving players the option to purchase either game separately instead of the complete package.
