Idea Factory International has confirmed that Villion: Code will launch in North America and Europe on January 26, 2027, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The action RPG, developed by Compile Heart, originally debuted in Japan on June 25, 2026.
The October 20 announcement establishes a specific western release date following the publisher’s September confirmation of a broader 2027 launch window. Physical editions will be available for PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch in North America, while European physical availability will be limited to PS5.
A Digital Deluxe Edition is also planned for all five platforms. It includes the base game, a 124-page digital art book featuring illustrations by character designer Ilya Kuvshinov and a short story collection written by Tadashi Satomi, alongside a 27-track digital soundtrack composed by Tsukasa Masuko.

Physical Standard Editions include a reversible cover featuring alternative artwork by Kuvshinov. Copies purchased through Idea Factory International’s online stores will also include an exclusive trading card while supplies last. Physical pre-orders are available, while digital wishlisting is planned for a later date.
Villion: Code is produced by Kouji “Cozy” Okada, known for his involvement in the early Megami Tensei and Persona games. The project reunites Okada with scenario writer Tadashi Satomi and composer Tsukasa Masuko, with Kuvshinov responsible for character designs.
The story takes place in a near-future world facing humanity’s possible extinction. Players explore Adhvan City, where a mysterious phenomenon has trapped residents inside a sealed academy city. Hostile creatures known as GEMs threaten the population, leaving those trapped inside to investigate the disaster and uncover its origins.
Combat combines melee and ranged attacks through Genome Arms, mutated weapons with different combat traits. Players can chain attacks together while navigating randomly generated, 360-degree tube-shaped dungeons called Sankhara Space Time.
Character progression revolves around Genome Cubes, which players synthesize using materials collected from dungeons. Additional EX Factors can strengthen these cubes by improving attributes, providing bonuses and unlocking passive skills.
Outside combat, the game features conversation and investigation events, including decisions that can influence how the story develops.
The western console editions will feature Japanese voice acting with English text. The Steam version will additionally support Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese text.
Villion: Code joins several Japanese-developed games scheduled for Nintendo’s newer console in early 2027, including Earth Defense Force 6, which arrives on Switch 2 on January 28.
The January 26 release will mark Villion: Code’s first official western launch, with both digital and selected physical editions available across PlayStation, Nintendo and PC platforms.
