Star Wars Jedi 3 is reportedly far into development at Respawn Entertainment, with an official announcement potentially approaching. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier shared the update on October 30, 2026, indicating that work on the third installment in the Star Wars Jedi series is considerably advanced, although Electronic Arts has yet to confirm when the game will be unveiled.
Responding to questions on Bluesky, Schreier stated that “Jedi 3 is far in development; Battlefront 3 hasn’t even started yet.” In a separate response about the upcoming Jedi sequel, he added, “That’s still coming, should be officially announced soon.”
The comments provide a clearer indication of the project’s progress following years of limited official information. However, Schreier did not provide a specific announcement date, release window, or details about a planned reveal event.

Electronic Arts previously confirmed that Respawn Entertainment was developing the third and final chapter of Cal Kestis’ story during its September 2024 Investor Day presentation. EA Entertainment and Technology president Laura Miele described the project as the concluding installment in the studio’s Star Wars Jedi storyline.
The series began with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in November 2019, followed by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in April 2023. Both games follow Cal Kestis, a Jedi survivor navigating the Galactic Empire’s rule, combining lightsaber combat, exploration, and story-driven action-adventure gameplay.
The third installment will continue that narrative, although EA and Respawn have not revealed its official title, gameplay features, supported platforms, or release date.
Schreier’s comments also distinguish the development status of Jedi 3 from the reported Star Wars Battlefront 3 project. While the Jedi sequel is already far along, he indicated that Battlefront 3 has not begun development. That contrasts with earlier reports suggesting Battlefront 3 was in development at DICE and Respawn.
The distinction is significant because it suggests that the two Star Wars projects are at substantially different stages. Schreier’s statement does not establish when Battlefront 3 might enter production or whether EA has finalized its development arrangements.
For Star Wars Jedi fans, the most immediate development is the prospect of finally seeing Respawn’s next installment. The studio has not publicly presented the third game’s gameplay or announced a launch schedule, despite EA confirming its existence more than two years ago.
Previous rumors have suggested a possible 2027 release, but Schreier’s latest comments do not independently establish that timeline. An announcement arriving soon would not necessarily mean the game is approaching launch.
Until EA or Respawn provides an official update, the timing and contents of the reveal remain unconfirmed. Schreier’s statements nevertheless offer a credible indication that the concluding chapter of Cal Kestis’ Jedi trilogy has progressed substantially and may soon receive its formal introduction.
