Breadworks has released a new gameplay trailer for Mann Versus Zombies, its upcoming free total-conversion mod for Team Fortress 2. Published on November 1, 2026, the trailer offers a closer look at the game’s zombie survival combat, weapon progression and cooperative gameplay. The developer is targeting a Q1 2027 release, although its Steam page currently lists the game as Coming Soon.
Originally revealed in May 2026, Mann Versus Zombies transforms Team Fortress 2 into a wave-based survival shooter. Players must defend themselves against increasingly dangerous undead enemies, either alone or in cooperative matches supporting up to eight players.
The game’s story revolves around Merasmus, the recurring Team Fortress 2 magician, who has unleashed an army of mutated undead creatures. Familiar locations become survival arenas where players must manage their resources, strengthen their defenses and survive as many waves as possible.

Each match begins with players carrying a weak sidearm. Defeating enemies allows them to accumulate cash, which can be spent on additional weapons and upgrades. The available arsenal includes firearms inspired by real-world designs, ranging from tactical rifles to heavier weapons intended for crowd control.
Players can also improve their equipment through a system called the Mannifester, which allows further weapon enhancements. Temporary perks provide additional combat advantages, although these bonuses cost money and are not permanent. This introduces a resource-management element alongside the shooting mechanics, requiring players to decide when to purchase weapons, invest in upgrades or acquire perks.
Defensive gameplay is another important part of the experience. Players can repair barricades to maintain their positions against incoming enemies, while cooperative teams must coordinate their resources and defenses to withstand increasingly aggressive waves.
Unlike survival modes built around a fixed number of rounds, Mann Versus Zombies features endless progression. There is no final wave, and the objective is to survive for as long as possible while facing growing numbers of enemies.
Breadworks has also confirmed several customization features. The mod will support Steam Workshop content, including custom maps and skins, and players will be able to use cosmetics from their existing Team Fortress 2 inventories. Planned environments range from the familiar battlements of Teufort to snowy alpine locations, with different settings introducing their own environmental challenges and creatures.
The project joins a growing selection of community-developed games that expand on established Valve-era titles. Another example is Dark Messiah Community Edition, which is bringing cooperative play, restored content and additional technical improvements to an older Source-engine game.
Mann Versus Zombies will be distributed as a free-to-play community mod on Steam, but it requires Team Fortress 2 to be installed. Its Steam listing currently specifies Windows 10, a 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM and 4GB of available storage among its minimum requirements.
Breadworks’ newly published gameplay trailer follows the original teaser released in May, providing a more detailed presentation of the project ahead of its planned launch. The developer has publicly indicated Q1 2027 as its target release window, but a specific launch date has not been announced.
Players can already add Mann Versus Zombies to their Steam wishlists. The game is not yet available to download.
