Limited Run Games has announced a new physical Nintendo Switch release of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, bringing Mega Man X5, X6, X7, and X8 to a standalone cartridge edition. The company is also offering a Double Pack containing all eight mainline Mega Man X games across two physical cartridges, alongside a premium Maverick Hunter Edition. Pre-orders open November 12, 2026, and are scheduled to close January 3, 2027.
The release is part of Limited Run Games’ 10th-anniversary lineup and provides a new physical purchasing option for Capcom’s classic action-platformer series. Unlike the original North American Switch physical release of Mega Man X Legacy Collection in 2018, which included the second compilation through a download code, the new Double Pack places both collections on separate game cartridges.
Limited Run Games has listed three editions on its official storefront, with prices ranging from $39.99 to $139.99.

The Standard Edition costs $39.99 and includes Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 on a physical Nintendo Switch cartridge. It contains Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, Mega Man X7, and Mega Man X8, covering the second half of the eight-game mainline series.
The $79.99 Double Pack Edition includes both Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2. The first cartridge contains Mega Man X through Mega Man X4, while the second contains Mega Man X5 through Mega Man X8. Both games come packaged together in a themed slipcase.
For collectors, the $139.99 Maverick Hunter Edition includes both physical game cartridges and the slipcase, along with a hologram canister light featuring Mega Man X, a Metool keychain, and collectible patches. These items are packaged in a collector’s box featuring artwork inspired by the series.
The two-cartridge arrangement is the main difference from the earlier North American physical release. Players purchasing the Double Pack or Maverick Hunter Edition receive physical copies of both compilations rather than relying on a download voucher for the second collection.
The games themselves are not new releases. Capcom originally launched Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 in 2018, bringing the eight mainline games together with additional features.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 includes X Challenge mode, which challenges players to fight two bosses simultaneously. It also features a museum containing production artwork, historical merchandise materials, promotional videos, and an animated prequel exploring Sigma’s origins.
Limited Run Games identifies the new Switch editions as region-free and describes the purchasing window as an open pre-order period. All three editions are currently listed in pre-production, with artwork subject to change.
The storefront currently contains an apparent date error, listing January 3, 2026, as the closing date despite the November 2026 pre-order opening. The announced January 3, 2027 deadline is consistent with the scheduled ordering window.
No shipping date has been confirmed for the physical editions.
The announcement also adds another retro compilation to Nintendo’s physical release lineup. TAITO Milestones 5 is scheduled to bring 10 classic arcade games to Nintendo Switch in Japan in January 2027.
For Mega Man X collectors, the new Double Pack offers all eight mainline titles across two dedicated Switch cartridges, while the standalone release provides a physical copy of the second collection without requiring the purchase of the entire series.
