Nintendo has announced a replacement event for Kirby Air Riders on Nintendo Switch 2 following the cancellation of its Halloween event due to gameplay freezing issues. The new event begins November 4, 2026, at 7 p.m. Pacific Time and runs until November 9 at 7 p.m. PT, giving players another opportunity to earn the previously available Halloween rewards.
Rather than restoring the original Trick or Treat! event, Nintendo is bringing back the ruleset from Shadow Star’s Revenge, which last appeared in March 2026. The replacement retains the original participation rewards, including the Ghost headwear accessory, which can be unlocked by earning 1,100 Event Points.
Nintendo has also adjusted reward progression to account for the cancelled event. All previously accumulated Event Points have been reset to zero, meaning players must earn points again during the replacement event. However, the number of points awarded per match has been increased above the usual amount, making it easier to unlock the available rewards within the limited event window.

The announcement follows Nintendo’s decision to cancel the Kirby Air Riders Halloween event on October 30 after players encountered repeated screen freezes during matches. The original Trick or Treat! event was scheduled to run from October 28 through November 4, but technical problems disrupted gameplay and prompted Nintendo to end it early.
At the time, Nintendo acknowledged the freezing issue and promised another opportunity to obtain the event’s rewards. The newly announced Shadow Star’s Revenge replacement fulfills that commitment without bringing back the problematic Halloween ruleset.
Nintendo has apologized again for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation. Although the replacement uses different event rules, the company has not provided a detailed technical explanation of the original freezing problem or confirmed a specific software fix.
For players still seeking the Halloween cosmetics, the important deadline is November 9 at 7 p.m. PT. The Ghost headwear remains available at the same 1,100-point threshold, while the increased points earned per match should reduce the number of matches needed to reach that reward.
