Ubisoft has released a free update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on November 5, 2026, introducing New Game+, progression improvements, additional rewards, and upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) support for PS5 Pro. Called The Most Requested Update, the patch is available now on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, bringing several features requested by players alongside improvements to the game’s visuals and performance.
The most significant gameplay addition is New Game+, allowing players to revisit Valhalla with a new playthrough option. The update also introduces an Enhanced Progression Mode, a revised Power calculation system, and two new achievements. Ubisoft has not detailed the exact progression rules or how character equipment and abilities carry over into New Game+ in its PlayStation announcement.
Additional content includes a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. An Animus Hub synchronization update is also included, extending the changes beyond Valhalla’s core gameplay systems.

The technical improvements are particularly notable for PS5 Pro owners. Ubisoft has integrated an upgraded version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony’s AI-based image upscaling technology, into Valhalla’s rendering pipeline. This enhancement is exclusive to PS5 Pro, while the other announced gameplay additions are available through the free PS5 update.
Ubisoft Engineering Studio Manager Priscilla Nguyen explained that the upgraded PSSR is more efficient than the game’s existing temporal upscaling solution and produces a sharper, more visually stable image. According to Nguyen, the implementation improves image quality at 4K while allowing the game’s Quality mode to run at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro.
Rather than modifying Valhalla’s original visual assets or rebuilding its environments, Ubisoft incorporated the improved upscaler into the existing game engine. This approach allows the studio to enhance image clarity and rendering performance without extensive changes to the original content.
The improvements apply to Valhalla’s open-world environments, including the snowy landscapes of Norway and the forests, settlements, and countryside of England. Ubisoft says the upgraded rendering technology produces more refined image quality while maintaining smooth gameplay, although independent performance measurements have not been provided.
Nguyen also confirmed that upgraded PSSR had already been integrated into Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, which recently received its own New Game+ and Nightmare Mode additions. Bringing the technology to Valhalla extends these rendering improvements to an older Assassin’s Creed release originally developed before the PS5 Pro existed.
The November 5 patch therefore delivers two distinct upgrades: new progression and replayability features for PS5 players, and improved 4K image quality with 60 FPS Quality mode support specifically for PS5 Pro owners. Ubisoft has confirmed that The Most Requested Update is available now on both consoles.
