The launch of Battlefield 6 has sparked massive conversations across the PC gaming community, not just for its explosive gameplay but for an unexpected twist that unfolded shortly after release.

As excitement peaked and players rushed to jump in, a surprising turn of events began shaping the game’s reception in a way no one quite predicted.

The Battlefield 6 EA App breakdown quickly became a talking point among PC players when launch-day access issues prevented many from entering the game despite pre-ordering.

As frustration spread, attention shifted to an alternative platform that unexpectedly surged in popularity during the chaos, reshaping the game’s early PC player distribution.

Importance: The Battlefield 6 EA App breakdown damaged confidence in EA’s launcher and pushed players towards Steam, potentially shifting long-term loyalty away from EA’s own platform.

Players switch to Steam after EA App fails to verify Battlefield 6 ownership

During the Battlefield 6 EA App breakdown at launch, players using EA’s official launcher reported being locked out due to failed content ownership checks, effectively blocking access for hours after the game went live.

Steam Surges As EA App Fails

While long queues were expected for a major multiplayer release, this issue completely prevented many EA App buyers from playing at all. In contrast, the Steam version of Battlefield 6 continued operating without requiring EA’s launcher, allowing seamless access.

Battlefield boss Vince Zampella acknowledged the issue publicly, admitted he had “yelled” about the situation and even advised players to refund the EA App version and repurchase the game on Steam. His comments coincided with a massive spike in Steam player numbers, reaching over 747,000 concurrent users.

EA later confirmed that affected EA App players would receive compensation in the form of XP boosters and a free Premium Battle Pass when Season 1 launches.
