Marathon Leak Reveals $40 Price Tag and 28 Weapons at Launch

A reputable leaker has reportedly revealed Marathon’s launch price and weapon lineup, giving fans a clearer picture of what to expect from Bungie’s long-awaited extraction shooter. After months of silence and setbacks, it seems the studio might finally be regaining momentum.

Leak Suggests a $40 Launch Price and 28 Weapons

According to Destiny 2 and Marathon dataminer Deakstiny, the game will reportedly launch at $40 for the base edition, with a Deluxe Edition priced around $60 and a cosmetic-only season pass available for an extra $10.

While Bungie has not confirmed these details, the pricing aligns with earlier reports that Marathon wouldn’t be a full-priced release—similar to Helldivers 2, another successful Sony live-service title.

    Marathon pricing info?

Season pass is cosmetic only, around $10 USD. Deluxe edition includes around $30 ish worth of "season pass tokens" ? no idea what they do

Base game priced around $40, deluxe around $60?. deluxe seems to kinda just include more skins, might be more tho.…

    — Colony Deaks (@Deakstiny) October 7, 2025

Deakstiny also claims Marathon will feature 28 weapons at launch, spread across various categories. The supposed arsenal includes:

    • 4 automatic rifles
    • 3 light machine guns
    • 6 precision rifles
    • 3 pistols
    • 2 rail guns
    • 3 shotguns
    • 3 snipers
    • 4 other weapons

If accurate, that’s a solid amount of weapon variety for a competitive shooter launching below standard retail price.

Bungie skipped September’s PlayStation State of Play, but development on Marathon appears to be progressing behind the scenes. The studio recently announced a new round of closed playtests scheduled for October 22–28, allowing more players to go hands-on and offer feedback.

It’s a much-needed confidence boost for a project that has seen everything from delays to controversy, including an art plagiarism scandal earlier this year.

A Step Toward Redemption for Bungie

While these leaks should still be taken with a grain of salt, Deakstiny’s past track record lends them credibility. The leaker previously shared details from a Marathon playtest that Bungie swiftly issued DMCA takedowns against—seemingly confirming their legitimacy.

For Bungie, a successful launch could help rebuild goodwill after a turbulent year marked by layoffs, delays, and declining Destiny 2 engagement. Pricing Marathon at $40 could be a strategic move to attract more players early on while distancing it from the perception of being another bloated live-service project.

If these recent leaks hold true, Marathon could debut with a strong mix of accessibility, value, and depth—exactly what Bungie needs to reestablish its reputation. Fans will likely find out more in the coming months as the studio prepares for its biggest round of playtesting yet.
