Top Hat Studios and 13th Street Studio have expanded BECROWNED beyond PC, confirming PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions alongside a new Q1 2027 release window. The surreal psychological survival horror game had previously been scheduled to launch on PC in Q4 2026, making the announcement both a platform expansion and a delay. A new console announcement trailer accompanied the update.
BECROWNED follows Richard Torrance, a man whose relentless pursuit of happiness and control leads him into increasingly disturbing environments where reality begins to break down. The game mixes traditional survival horror structure with a nonlinear narrative in which the player’s choices affect other characters and ultimately influence Richard’s fate. Top Hat Studios describes the world as one shaped by fear, punishment and obsession rather than a straightforward haunted setting.
The game’s environments include a vast castle and its surroundings, a decaying hospital and a liminal motel. Players will explore for hidden passages, solve both mandatory and optional puzzles, manage limited resources and fight enemies that require different tactics. Multiple endings are planned, with decisions made throughout the game determining whether characters are saved, abandoned or pushed toward darker outcomes.

Its presentation draws heavily from older horror cinema and literature rather than relying only on modern survival horror conventions. The developers cite 1970s and 1980s grindhouse films, surrealist French horror and Russian cultural and literary influences as major parts of BECROWNED’s identity. The result combines deliberately retro visual direction with modern rendering technology, while keeping the structure rooted in exploration, combat and puzzle solving.
BECROWNED also places a heavier emphasis on player choice than many traditional survival horror games. Decisions can affect the people trapped within its strange world, including whether the player spends scarce resources helping others or prioritizes Richard’s own survival. Those choices feed into the game’s nonlinear progression and its range of possible endings.
The new console versions significantly broaden the game’s planned launch compared with its earlier PC-only release. Similar platform expansions have become increasingly common for smaller projects approaching release, including MR. RECORDS adding PS5 and Xbox Series versions and Bloomwalker expanding to PS5 and Switch platforms. BECROWNED will now arrive simultaneously across the three current-generation console ecosystems and Steam.
Nintendo Switch 2 is particularly notable because the game had not previously been announced for any Nintendo platform. The PS5 and Xbox Series versions likewise mark the first confirmation that BECROWNED will leave the PC ecosystem at launch. Top Hat Studios has not announced PS4, Xbox One or original Switch versions.
The delay moves BECROWNED out of its previously announced late-2026 window and into the first quarter of 2027. The Steam page still reflects the earlier Q4 2026 timing at the time of writing, but the new publisher announcement supersedes that listing. No exact release date within Q1 has been announced yet.
13th Street Studio has been developing BECROWNED as a modern interpretation of classic survival horror rather than a direct recreation of one specific series. Its combat, resource management, puzzles and oppressive environments draw on genre conventions, while the branching narrative and surreal imagery give it a more experimental structure. The new trailer continues that direction while establishing a much wider launch footprint.
BECROWNED is now scheduled to launch in Q1 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The newly announced console editions mean players across all three major current-generation console platforms will be able to access the game when its revised launch window arrives.
