Behaviour Interactive is working on an unannounced AAA science-fiction first-person shooter built in Unreal Engine, according to newly surfaced job listings from the Dead by Daylight developer. The studio is currently recruiting for roles tied directly to the project, including a Senior Technical Animator and Senior 3D Character Artist. Both listings describe the game as a “AAA sci-fi FPS” with a “high realism bar,” providing the clearest public indication yet of what Behaviour has in development.
The Senior Technical Animator position says the successful candidate will help establish the technical foundations for animation, covering the project from early production through fully integrated in-game characters. Behaviour specifically mentions realistic real-time animation and asks for experience with systems including Motion Matching, State Machines, Blend Spaces, Behavior Trees and State Trees. The listing also references Unreal Engine’s Control Rig and procedural animation systems, pointing to a technically ambitious character pipeline rather than a stylized or lightweight production.
A separate Senior 3D Character Artist listing provides more detail about the game’s visual direction. Behaviour says the role will involve creating realistic science-fiction characters that combine organic and hard-surface elements, with assets taken from concept stage through final implementation in Unreal Engine 5. The studio also calls for experience with realistic hair, complex rigging requirements and close collaboration between character artists and animation teams.

The character listing mentions both human and mechanical design elements, while the animation role refers to maintaining rigs for bipedal and non-bipedal characters, including mechanical setups. That language suggests the project could feature a mixture of human characters, machines and other unconventional character types, although Behaviour has not revealed any specific enemies, factions or gameplay systems. It is also unclear whether the “high realism bar” applies primarily to visual fidelity, animation, physics or the overall presentation.
Behaviour has not announced a title, platforms, release window or setting for the project. The company’s own job pages label it simply as an “unannounced project,” and there is currently no official artwork or gameplay associated with the game. The listings nevertheless confirm that development has progressed far enough for Behaviour to be building dedicated character and animation pipelines.
One important unknown is whether Behaviour owns the project or is developing it for another company. The studio operates both an Original Games division and a large Services business that provides development support for outside publishers. Behaviour says its services teams have worked with companies including Sony, Microsoft, Activision, Nintendo and other major entertainment partners, so the sci-fi FPS could potentially be a co-development project rather than a new Behaviour-owned IP.
That distinction is especially relevant given Behaviour’s history outside Dead by Daylight. The company has developed and supported games across several genres, while its own recent projects have included Meet Your Maker and the cancelled Dead by Daylight spin-off Project T. Project T was an early-development co-op shooter set within the Dead by Daylight universe, but Behaviour cancelled it in 2024 after evaluating feedback from its playtesting program.
Nothing in the new listings indicates that the current sci-fi FPS is connected to Project T or Dead by Daylight. In fact, the emphasis on realistic science-fiction characters and a AAA production scale points toward a substantially different project. Behaviour has also not indicated whether the game is multiplayer, single-player, cooperative or live service.
The timing of a formal reveal remains unknown. The current recruitment activity suggests the project is still actively building core production systems, particularly around character art and animation, which could place a public announcement well ahead of release or leave the game unannounced for some time. For now, the first-party listings establish the key details: Behaviour Interactive is building a AAA sci-fi FPS in Unreal Engine, and the studio is targeting a notably high level of realism for its characters and animation.
