Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 06 will launch on September 17, with Activision bringing back The Haunting as the central theme of the new content drop. The publisher revealed the season on September 8 alongside new promotional material confirming a crossover with DOOM. Halloween-themed content will span Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone when the update goes live.

The DOOM collaboration is one of the major additions highlighted for Season 06, bringing the long-running id Software series into Black Ops 7’s current seasonal cycle. Promotional material prominently features the Doom Slayer alongside Call of Duty’s horror-focused imagery, establishing the crossover as a significant part of this year’s Haunting rather than a separate standalone promotion. Additional themed content is being integrated across the season as Activision shifts Black Ops 7 and Warzone toward their annual Halloween presentation.

The Haunting traditionally changes more than the cosmetic side of Call of Duty, and Season 06 follows that approach with themed modes and seasonal gameplay content. Black Ops 7’s Multiplayer and Zombies components are both included in the update, while Warzone receives its own Haunting content. Activision’s September 8 reveal expands substantially on the earlier confirmation that The Haunting would return, which had established the event but not the full scope of Season 06.

Black Ops 7 is entering the final stretch of its seasonal lifecycle, making Season 06 one of its last major content drops before attention moves toward the next Call of Duty. Activision announced Modern Warfare 4 earlier this year, with that game scheduled to arrive in October. The September 17 start therefore gives Season 06 several weeks to run before the franchise transitions into its next annual release.

Warzone will continue alongside that transition, with Season 06 serving as its accompanying Black Ops 7-era update. Seasonal Call of Duty releases typically share weapons, events and progression between the premium title and Warzone where applicable, and The Haunting once again provides a common theme across both games. The horror event has become a recurring part of Call of Duty’s yearly calendar, regularly bringing altered environments, limited-time gameplay and crossover characters into the franchise.

The DOOM collaboration also continues Call of Duty’s recent use of gaming crossovers alongside movie and television properties. DOOM itself has appeared in Call of Duty before through a 2023 bundle inspired by the classic games, which included a retro-styled Super Shotgun and Chainsaw. Season 06’s Black Ops 7 collaboration gives the franchise a much more prominent role in the seasonal marketing, with the Doom Slayer appearing directly in The Haunting material.

Season 06 arrives after Black Ops 7 Season 05 expanded Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame and Warzone with new locations and modes. Endgame’s temporary free-to-play availability was previously scheduled to continue through the end of Season 05, after which the mode would return to being accessible only to Black Ops 7 owners rather than through the Warzone menu. The start of Season 06 therefore also marks a transition point for that free-access period.

Activision is expected to continue revealing individual Season 06 components as the September 17 launch approaches, including more detailed information on progression, rewards and seasonal events. Patch notes should also provide the final weapon balancing and gameplay changes immediately around release. The new seasonal reveal nevertheless establishes the main direction: Black Ops 7 and Warzone are moving into The Haunting, with DOOM serving as the headline crossover.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 06: The Haunting launches September 17. The update will bring Halloween-themed content across Black Ops 7’s Multiplayer and Zombies modes as well as Warzone, while the newly confirmed DOOM crossover places the Doom Slayer at the center of this year’s seasonal event.
