Call of Duty has released the first trailer for The Haunting in Black Ops 7 and Warzone, confirming that the Halloween-themed event will begin alongside Season 06 on September 17, 2026. The new footage marks the first firm release-date announcement for the season after the September 17 timing had previously been indicated by the Season 05 Battle Pass countdown. It also confirms that DOOM will be among the crossovers featured during this year’s event.

The trailer was released on September 8 through Call of Duty’s official channels after being teased one day earlier. Its presentation shifts Black Ops 7 and Warzone toward the darker visual style traditionally associated with The Haunting, showing horror-themed environments, Operators and combat sequences ahead of the seasonal update. Activision has not yet published the complete Season 06 roadmap, so the trailer serves as an initial overview rather than a full breakdown of everything arriving at launch.

One of the most notable reveals is the DOOM crossover. References to DOOM and DOOM Eternal had already been discovered in the metadata for the scheduled trailer before it premiered, but those tags alone did not establish exactly how the franchise would appear in Call of Duty. The released footage now makes the crossover part of the official Season 06 marketing, including Doomguy imagery among the supernatural and horror-focused content shown for The Haunting.

The trailer also previews themed variations of existing locations alongside other Halloween elements expected to spread across Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The Haunting has traditionally used altered map lighting, supernatural effects and limited-time modes to transform normal multiplayer and battle royale spaces for the event. Activision has not yet provided the final map list or detailed rules for this year’s modes, so individual additions shown briefly in the trailer should become clearer when the full seasonal announcement arrives.

Season 06 will cover both Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone. That means the September 17 update is expected to bring the usual combination of seasonal progression, new gameplay content and cosmetic releases across the two games in addition to The Haunting itself. The trailer confirms the Halloween theme and crossover direction, while specifics such as new weapons, exact multiplayer maps, Warzone playlist changes and the complete Battle Pass lineup remain to be detailed officially.

The timing makes Season 06 particularly important for Black Ops 7’s post-launch cycle. Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23, leaving just over a month between the start of The Haunting and the arrival of the next premium Call of Duty. As a result, Season 06 is positioned as the final major seasonal stretch for Black Ops 7 before Activision’s annual focus shifts toward the new release.

Warzone will continue alongside the transition, with The Haunting once again serving as the shared seasonal event connecting the current premium title to the battle royale. Previous iterations have introduced night-time map variants, undead-focused modes and horror crossover Operators, although those past features should not be assumed to return unchanged in 2026. The newly released trailer confirms that the same broad Halloween identity is returning, but this year’s exact playlist structure still needs the accompanying roadmap.

The September 17 date also resolves earlier uncertainty surrounding the Season 05 countdown. Before today’s trailer, several outlets had identified September 17 as the likely changeover because that was when the current Battle Pass was due to expire, but Activision had not formally attached the date to The Haunting. The new trailer now makes the launch timing explicit.

More detailed information should follow ahead of release, including the Season 06 roadmap, Battle Pass contents and breakdowns for Black Ops 7 and Warzone. For now, Call of Duty has confirmed the central details: The Haunting returns on September 17, Season 06 will span both games, and DOOM is officially part of this year’s crossover lineup.
