A new retailer listing has reignited speculation around the long-delayed Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4, with a possible release date now surfacing after months of silence from Gearbox Software.

According to a product page spotted on the Portuguese retailer Gaming Replay, the looter-shooter may arrive on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware on February 27, 2026. While the date has yet to be acknowledged by the developer or its publishing partners, it marks the first public hint of a concrete launch window since the port was postponed late last year.

The listing presents Borderlands 4 as a “Game Key Card” for Switch 2, a format that suggests a download-based release rather than a fully cartridge-contained version. No additional details accompany the date, and no official marketing materials have been updated to reflect it, leaving its legitimacy uncertain. Retailer placeholders are not uncommon in the industry, but the specificity of the date has drawn attention across gaming communities.

Borderlands 4 originally launched on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game introduced players to the new planet Kairos and centered its story on a conflict involving a mysterious antagonist known as the Timekeeper.

The title expanded the franchise with four new Vault Hunters, including Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo Soldier, while retaining the series’ signature blend of fast-paced gunplay, irreverent humor, and a deep loot system.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version was initially scheduled to release shortly after the main launch, with an October 3, 2025 date announced early on. However, just ten days before release, Gearbox confirmed a delay, citing the need for additional development and polish.

Randy Pitchford, the studio’s CEO, explained at the time that the team wanted to ensure the experience met expectations on Nintendo’s new hardware. Since that announcement, the Switch 2 edition has remained absent from official release schedules, with no revised timeline provided—until now.

In the months following launch, Gearbox has continued to support Borderlands 4 on existing platforms through performance patches and new content. One of the most notable additions arrived in mid-January 2026 with the introduction of Bloomreaper the Invincible, a new raid boss designed to expand the game’s endgame offerings.

Updates have also targeted frame rate drops, stability issues, and memory-related bugs that affected players early on.

Despite this ongoing support, the leaked Switch 2 release date has been met with mixed reactions. Many players remain skeptical, pointing to the performance issues experienced on more powerful hardware at launch and questioning how well the game will run on Nintendo’s system.

The timing of the rumored February release has also fueled speculation about a potential Nintendo Direct presentation. Nintendo has a history of hosting major showcases early in the year, and some fans believe the Borderlands 4 Switch 2 version could be formally revealed during such an event. However, there is currently no evidence to support this theory, and no insiders have confirmed an upcoming presentation tied to the game.

For now, the Gaming Replay listing stands as the only indication that Borderlands 4 may finally be nearing its Switch 2 debut. Without official confirmation from Gearbox or Nintendo, the February 27 date should be treated with caution. Still, after a prolonged period of uncertainty, the appearance of a potential launch window has given Nintendo players renewed hope that the game’s delayed port may soon become a reality.
