Cygames has announced CygamesEdge, a new development label focused on smaller and more experimental projects, alongside its first game, Where the Seeds Fall. The action-adventure will launch on November 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The project was revealed during Sony’s September 3 State of Play, where its first trailer introduced the World Tree setting and the game’s emphasis on dangerous downward traversal.

Cygames describes CygamesEdge as a label built around small and mid-sized teams that can move from concept to release more quickly than larger productions. The company says the initiative will focus on speed, new technology and creative freedom while also working with outside developers when appropriate. Where the Seeds Fall is being developed by CygamesEdge and ZEREO Inc., with Cygames publishing the game.

The debut title takes place after the earth has been consumed by an affliction known as the Blight, forcing humanity to abandon the surface and establish settlements among the branches of the enormous World Tree. Society has come to fear children known as Fell Children, treating them as signs that disaster will follow. The story begins when a soldier encounters one of these children and defies his orders to escort them toward the surface.

That journey is built around descending rather than climbing. Players will navigate ruined structures and narrow footholds while dealing with strong winds, unstable platforms and long drops capable of killing the protagonist outright. The reveal trailer places considerable emphasis on judging distances and identifying safe landing points before committing to each leap.

Special flower buds growing across the World Tree provide one way to survive otherwise fatal falls. Players can pick them up and throw them toward a potential landing area, causing a flower to bloom and cushion the impact when the soldier reaches the ground below. The mechanic turns each descent into a combination of route planning and execution rather than simply asking players to jump toward the next visible platform.

Where the Seeds Fall is also designed as a deliberately compact experience. Cygames says the main narrative can be completed in around three hours, with the shorter runtime intended to deliver a dense adventure rather than a sprawling campaign. Players who finish the story can continue with higher-difficulty maps and a time trial mode that place greater emphasis on efficient routes and precise movement.

The compact structure fits directly into the philosophy behind CygamesEdge. Rather than using the new label for another large-scale production comparable to Cygames’ established console projects, the company is positioning it as a way to create and release focused games built around singular ideas. CygamesEdge says it will also pursue partnerships with external developers and creators, providing planning, development and publishing support backed by Cygames’ wider infrastructure.

Where the Seeds Fall’s central mystery concerns the Fell Child and the soldier’s decision to protect them. As the pair descend through the World Tree, players will uncover more about the child, the society living above the corrupted surface and the reason the journey matters to the protagonist personally. Cygames has not disclosed much beyond that premise, leaving the reveal focused primarily on traversal and atmosphere.

The game will be released digitally across all three confirmed platforms. Its Steam listing identifies it as a single-player action-adventure and supports English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese interfaces and subtitles. Cygames has not announced a physical edition or any additional platforms.

The launch of CygamesEdge adds another development route to a company already associated with significantly larger titles such as Granblue Fantasy and Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The new label’s first project is notably smaller in scope, with its approximately three-hour campaign and challenge-focused postgame providing an early indication of the kinds of projects Cygames intends to pursue under the Edge name.

Where the Seeds Fall launches November 5, 2026 for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. As the first CygamesEdge release, it will also serve as the initial test of Cygames’ new small-team development strategy, combining a focused runtime with a vertical traversal concept built around taking increasingly dangerous leaps toward the surface.
