Darkest Dungeon II is officially coming to iOS and Android in 2027, with mobile publisher Playdigious handling the release of Red Hook Studios’ turn-based roguelike RPG. The announcement was made on October 28, 2026, alongside a new trailer confirming that the game will bring its core campaign and Kingdoms mode to smartphones.
The mobile release will allow iPhone and Android users to experience the gothic RPG, which originally launched on PC in May 2023 before expanding to PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles. Playdigious has not announced an exact launch date, pricing or minimum device requirements.
The announcement trailer confirms that players will assemble a party of heroes, equip a stagecoach and travel through a deteriorating world toward the Mountain. The journey spans five regions, with turn-based battles requiring players to manage their heroes’ abilities, stress levels and relationships.

Darkest Dungeon II places particular emphasis on party relationships through its Affinity system. Heroes can develop bonds or rivalries throughout an expedition, influencing their effectiveness in combat. Managing these relationships alongside limited resources is an important part of surviving successive encounters.
Playdigious has also confirmed that the mobile version will feature Kingdoms, the standalone strategic campaign mode introduced to the game in January 2025. Unlike the original Confessions campaign, Kingdoms focuses on defending a threatened realm, managing a persistent roster of heroes and gathering resources while confronting escalating threats.
The announcement follows the game’s continued expansion across platforms. Darkest Dungeon II recently received a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on October 22, 2026, following an earlier Nintendo Switch 2 classification listing. That edition introduced enhancements including higher resolutions, 60 FPS gameplay and Joy-Con 2 mouse support.
The upcoming smartphone release also marks a broader mobile expansion for the franchise. The original Darkest Dungeon previously received an iPad version, but the sequel’s announced release will bring the series to iPhone and Android devices.
Playdigious has experience adapting established PC and console games for mobile platforms, including Sea of Stars, Subnautica: Below Zero and Dead Cells. However, the company has not yet detailed how Darkest Dungeon II’s interface and controls will be adapted for touchscreen devices.
Further information about the mobile version’s exact release date, pricing, supported devices and any potential differences from the PC and console editions remains unannounced.
