Techland is celebrating the first anniversary of Dying Light: The Beast with its first physical PlayStation 5 release, three weeks of in-game activities and a collection of free rewards. The physical release is being produced with Super Rare Games and comes in three versions: a standard Retail Version, Super Rare Games Edition and Anniversary Edition. Pre-orders opened on September 18, exactly one year after the game originally launched.
All three physical versions include the Definitive Edition of Dying Light: The Beast with its post-launch updates. The standard Retail Version contains the PS5 game and a manual, while the Super Rare Games Edition adds an SRG sticker, exclusive metallic slipcover and individually numbered release. Unlike the two collector-focused versions, the standard release does not have a limited pre-order quantity.
The Anniversary Edition adds a larger assortment of physical collectibles. Its contents include an anniversary box, stickers including glow-in-the-dark designs, an A4 hardcover artbook, woven patch, poster, pins, physical map, postcards and soundtrack. The Super Rare Games Edition and Anniversary Edition are available through a limited pre-order window ending October 16, with final production quantities determined after orders close.

The physical release is currently limited to PlayStation 5, with Techland not announcing equivalent Xbox or PC editions. Dying Light: The Beast originally launched digitally for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in September 2025, making the new editions the first opportunity for PS5 players to own the game on disc. Physical releases have continued to appear for a number of recent games, including titles such as Rain World Anthology, which is also receiving new packaged editions.
Existing players are getting a substantial anniversary program as well. A Double XP event runs from September 18 through September 21, followed by the three-week Call of the Beast: 1st Anniversary Edition event beginning September 21. The event introduces weekly global community objectives alongside player votes that determine special gameplay modifiers applied during weekends in Castor Woods.
Completing the weekly objectives will provide anniversary rewards, including themed equipment tied to Castor Woods. Techland is also introducing Crane’s Anniversary Drops, which provide rewards simply for logging into the game during the celebration period. Additional exclusive weapons are scheduled to become available on Fridays during the Call of the Beast event, giving returning players several reasons to check in throughout the three-week run.
The anniversary update itself is available as version 1.7 and brings the event systems and rewards into the game. Techland is also making the Discharge Weapon Pack free across Steam, PlayStation Store and Xbox from September 17 through September 24. The developer has continued expanding The Beast since launch with updates and additional activities rather than treating its original release as the end of development.
Players who have not yet picked up the game are also getting its largest discount so far. Dying Light: The Beast is 50% off digitally across supported platforms until September 26, while a wider franchise bundle containing Dying Light, Dying Light 2: Stay Human and The Beast is discounted by as much as 70% during the anniversary period.
Dying Light: The Beast launched on September 18, 2025 and brought original protagonist Kyle Crane back as the lead after years of captivity and experimentation. Set in Castor Woods, the game combines first-person parkour, survival horror and melee-heavy combat with Crane’s ability to temporarily unleash enhanced Beast powers. One year later, Techland is using the anniversary to expand both the physical availability of the game and the amount of limited-time content available to its existing player base.
