Koei Tecmo and Omega Force will release a playable demo for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered on September 24, giving players an opportunity to try the remake one week before its full launch. The companies announced the demo during Tokyo Game Show 2026, where the remaster is receiving a dedicated stage presentation. Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered launches worldwide on October 1 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.

Alongside the demo announcement, Koei Tecmo also confirmed a substantial post-launch feature: online two-player multiplayer. The original game’s local split-screen functionality is already included in the remaster, but an upcoming free update will add the ability to play with another person online. That update is currently scheduled to arrive by January 2027, although Koei Tecmo has not announced a more specific release date.

The September 24 demo arrives during the final stretch before launch and should give prospective players an early look at how Omega Force has modernized the 2001 PlayStation 2 title. Koei Tecmo has not yet detailed exactly which characters, battles or modes will be available in the demo, nor whether progress will carry into the full release. The announcement nevertheless gives players a chance to test the remaster’s updated combat and presentation before deciding whether to purchase it.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered combines Dynasty Warriors 3 with its Xtreme Legends expansion in a single package. The remake includes more than 40 returning officers and rebuilds the original battlefields using Unreal Engine 5, while retaining the large-scale one-versus-thousands combat that became central to the Warriors series. It also includes additional scenarios and modernized controls while preserving the basic structure of the original games.

Omega Force has added several new combat systems for the remake. Players can evade attacks using a dedicated dodge, with precisely timed Just Evasions triggering counterattacks, while Perfect Power Guards can deflect incoming strikes and leave enemy officers vulnerable. A Weapon Fusion system also allows unwanted equipment to be sacrificed so its elemental attributes and skills can be transferred onto other weapons.

Players who prefer an experience closer to the original can disable the newly introduced mechanics. Koei Tecmo has said individual additions can be switched off, while a Classic Settings option is designed to more closely recreate the original Dynasty Warriors 3 gameplay rules. That approach gives returning players a way to preserve the older combat style while letting newcomers use the remaster’s expanded mechanics.

Two-player functionality is another major part of the package. Offline split-screen supports cooperative and competitive play across Musou, Free and VS modes, continuing a feature that was significant to the original release. The planned online update will expand that functionality beyond local play, although Koei Tecmo has not yet explained whether every split-screen-compatible mode will support online multiplayer.

The remaster was originally planned for March 19, 2026 before Koei Tecmo delayed it earlier this year. A new October 1 release date was later announced alongside expanded details about the remake’s mechanics and content. The project is now nearing release during a busy Tokyo Game Show period, which has also seen schedule disruption after Tokyo Game Show canceled its September 21 final day because of Typhoon No. 25.

With the September 24 demo, players will have roughly a week to sample Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered before launch. The later addition of online multiplayer also means the remake will continue receiving at least one significant feature after release, extending its two-player options beyond the local co-op that ships with the game.
