Grand Theft Auto VI’s new Extended Look has revealed a much stronger focus on racing and car culture, with the gameplay presentation showing both street racing and wheel-to-wheel action on a dedicated circuit.
Rockstar released the Extended Look on August 27, with the entire presentation captured from in-game footage running on PlayStation 5. Among the numerous activities shown across Leonida are sequences of modified cars racing through city streets as well as vehicles competing around a purpose-built race track.
The street-racing footage shows multiple performance cars running closely together through Vice City, surrounded by the kind of modified vehicles and nighttime atmosphere commonly associated with organized underground racing.
Automotive coverage of the presentation has also identified the sequence as street racing rather than simply ordinary high-speed driving. The footage includes groups of tuned cars travelling together at speed, adding to the broader evidence that racing will play a larger role in GTA VI’s open world.
The Extended Look also includes racing on a dedicated paved circuit. Several cars can be seen competing wheel-to-wheel around the track, providing the clearest official indication so far that GTA VI will include proper circuit-style motorsport alongside its street-racing activity.
That is particularly notable following speculation surrounding a race track visible in previously leaked GTA VI map material. Before the official presentation, mapping communities had identified what appeared to be a large road course in Leonida, with comparisons drawn to Florida’s Sebring International Raceway.
The new footage is more important than those earlier leaks because Rockstar itself has now shown cars racing on a circuit as part of an official gameplay presentation.

The racing sequences also fit into a wider emphasis on vehicle culture throughout GTA VI. The Extended Look features muscle cars, modern performance vehicles, motorcycles and heavily modified builds across multiple scenes.
Customization businesses are also prominent. Rockstar has previously shown Rideout Customs branding within GTA VI material, while the new footage provides additional looks at modified wheels, bodywork and performance-focused vehicles.
Grand Theft Auto has featured racing activities for decades, including street races in GTA V and a large selection of competitive modes in GTA Online. GTA VI, however, appears to be expanding the automotive side of the series considerably by giving different types of racing a more visible place within Leonida.
The presentation also shows numerous other vehicle-focused sequences, including police pursuits, high-speed freeway driving and off-road activity. Together, they suggest Rockstar is designing driving around more than simply getting between missions.
Vehicle handling itself has also attracted attention following the Extended Look. While Rockstar has not published detailed handling specifications, the footage shows noticeable body movement during cornering, acceleration and braking, particularly during the racing and pursuit sequences.
It remains unclear how structured GTA VI’s racing system will be. Rockstar has not yet confirmed the number of races, whether individual championships exist, how players enter events or what rewards will be available.
The footage also does not establish whether every track and street-racing sequence shown is available as an open-world activity rather than being tied to specific missions.
What is clear from the official presentation is that organized racing exists within GTA VI’s world in more than one form. Both street competition and dedicated track racing are shown during the Extended Look, alongside a much broader representation of Leonida’s car culture.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date.
With modified street cars, circuit racing and a dedicated track now appearing in official footage, GTA VI’s automotive side is shaping up to be considerably more prominent than Rockstar had previously shown.
