Horror Skunx, the studio behind Dark Pals: The 1st Floor, is set to announce its next game during Insider Gaming’s 28 Games Later: A Horror Showcase on October 1. Insider Gaming says the studio will reveal the game during the horror-focused presentation, which is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET, or 8 p.m. BST.
The announcement gives Skunx Games a new opportunity to reveal what comes after Dark Pals: The 1st Floor. The studio’s official website currently identifies The 2nd Floor as its next major project, while its Steam presence lists Dark Pals: The 1st Floor as its released game. The studio has not yet publicly provided a release date for The 2nd Floor.
Skunx has also been signaling that something new is approaching. The studio’s Horror Skunx social account recently acknowledged its inclusion in the upcoming showcase and posted that it had “something to tell you,” while responding to reactions surrounding the event. Those posts do not independently disclose the game itself, but they align with Insider Gaming’s report that a new title announcement is planned.
Dark Pals: The 1st Floor is a mascot-horror game set in an abandoned children’s asylum. Players solve puzzles and use an Ink Blaster while encountering the game’s various mascots, with the story connected to Skunx’s wider Dark Pals universe and accompanying YouTube series. The game launched on Steam in May 2026 after previously being available as a demo.
Skunx has previously described The 2nd Floor as part of its plans for the Dark Pals series. The studio’s official website says its long-term goal is to continue with The 2nd Floor while expanding the Dark Pals YouTube series, and a recent recruitment listing described work on the sequel’s game world, puzzles and narrative. The studio’s Dark Pals FAQ, however, says it had not yet announced a release date for the sequel.
The October 1 showcase will feature more than Skunx’s announcement. Insider Gaming says the event will include 28 horror and suspense games, with titles ranging from smaller independent projects to larger productions. The presentation is also expected to include previously unseen games, trailers and other updates, giving participating developers a dedicated platform ahead of the Halloween season.
For Skunx, the showcase appearance should provide the first substantial public look at whatever follows Dark Pals: The 1st Floor. Whether the announcement is specifically for The 2nd Floor or another project has not been confirmed in the available official material. More information should arrive when the 28 Games Later showcase airs on October 1.
