A new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ trailer titled “World Builder” has surfaced as Infinity Ward begins a week-long promotional rollout for the returning extraction mode. CharlieIntel shared the trailer on October 4, matching Activision’s previously announced schedule for the first day of its five-day DMZ reveal campaign. The video arrives less than three weeks before Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23.
Activision had already confirmed that October 4 would begin a full week of DMZ coverage featuring new trailers, gameplay deep dives and additional information about Hajin. Infinity Ward described the schedule as five days dedicated to exploring the exclusion zone and the systems players will encounter when deploying. The October 4 DMZ trailer had been scheduled as the opening beat of that rollout.
The “World Builder” naming points toward Hajin itself rather than a standalone gameplay-system reveal. Hajin is the large exclusion zone at the center of Modern Warfare 4’s version of DMZ, positioned across parts of the Korean Peninsula and Russia following the conflict depicted in the campaign. Infinity Ward has described the location as a living combat sandbox where environmental conditions, AI forces and player activity can change how individual deployments unfold.

Hajin contains multiple distinct areas, including Hajin City, a casino, hospital, military base, prison, farmlands, broadcast facilities and a radioactive fallout zone. Dynamic weather is also part of the map design, with conditions such as rain, fog and snow capable of changing during an operation. That emphasis on a changing environment is central to Infinity Ward’s attempt to make the new DMZ feel less like a static battle royale map and more like a persistent extraction space.
The mode itself builds on the DMZ experiment introduced with Modern Warfare II in 2022 but expands its structure considerably. Players can deploy alone or in squads, complete narrative missions and Dynamic Operations, pursue bounties, collect resources and extract valuable equipment for later use. Progression is tied to a Forward Operating Base where players can prepare for future runs and manage longer-term upgrades.
Infinity Ward has also emphasized player choice, negotiation and risk as major parts of the experience. Its official description says players can loot, fight, negotiate, betray and extract with whatever they manage to carry out of the zone. The studio has positioned the mode as a more fully realized extraction experience rather than another beta-scale experiment, with Hajin intended to support both structured objectives and emergent player encounters.
Modern Warfare 4 has received several separate marketing pushes in recent weeks. Its campaign was showcased again during Tokyo Game Show, revealing more of Captain Price’s role, the invasion of South Korea and the threat surrounding the Archer, while Activision has also detailed the PC version and its underlying technology. The recent campaign trailer focused on the game’s scripted story content, making the DMZ rollout a shift toward its more systemic multiplayer offering.
The October 4 World Builder trailer is only the beginning of that push. Activision’s schedule continues with additional DMZ presentations over the following days, including coverage of Dynamic Operations, progression, bounties and story missions before a final intel drop concludes the sequence. That means the most detailed gameplay breakdowns are still to come even as the World Builder video establishes Hajin as the foundation for the mode.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Campaign Early Access begins October 16 for eligible digital pre-orders. DMZ launches alongside the full game as one of its three main modes, together with Campaign and traditional Multiplayer.
