Naughty Dog has confirmed that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will receive its full reveal in 2027. In a new update from studio head Neil Druckmann, the developer said it will remain quiet about the PlayStation 5 game for the rest of 2026 before providing a proper look at protagonist Jordan A. Mun and her science-fiction adventure next year.
Druckmann published the update on September 28 as part of Naughty Dog’s closing message for The Last of Us Day. He said the Intergalactic team is currently focused on development and described the project as shaping up to be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious game yet. The studio wants to wait longer before showing more of the game, however, and explicitly set expectations that there will be no additional Intergalactic information for the remainder of this year.
The developer’s wording makes the 2027 presentation more substantial than another brief teaser or isolated screenshot. Naughty Dog said it will “fully reveal” Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give players a proper look at Jordan’s adventure. The studio did not provide a more specific date for that reveal, nor did it announce a release window for the game.

Intergalactic was first announced at The Game Awards in December 2024 as Naughty Dog’s next new franchise. The game follows Jordan, a bounty hunter who becomes stranded on Sempiria, a remote planet whose inhabitants have been isolated from the rest of the universe for centuries. Naughty Dog previously confirmed that the project had been in development since 2020, with Tati Gabrielle playing Jordan and Kumail Nanjiani among the cast.
The original announcement showed Jordan aboard her spacecraft and established the game’s retro-futuristic visual direction, but Naughty Dog has released relatively little information since then. The studio’s latest statement therefore provides the clearest timetable yet for the next major presentation. It also indicates that the project remains deep in development rather than being prepared for an imminent launch.
Naughty Dog’s update comes alongside separate news about The Last of Us, with Druckmann confirming that the studio has a couple of new projects in the very early stages. He said both projects are intended to expand The Last of Us canon beyond Part I and Part II, while emphasizing that the developer cannot share much about them yet. No titles, platforms, release windows or descriptions of the projects were announced.
For Intergalactic, the immediate takeaway is that players should not expect a major showing during the remainder of 2026. Naughty Dog is instead positioning 2027 as the point when it will substantially lift the curtain on the game. Until then, the developer has not announced a release date or provided further details about its gameplay systems, combat, exploration or the broader story surrounding Jordan.
The announcement also gives Naughty Dog a defined path for its next major marketing phase. Rather than continuing with scattered updates throughout the rest of 2026, the studio intends to keep the project under wraps and return with a comprehensive reveal next year. That leaves the eventual 2027 presentation as the next major opportunity for Naughty Dog to establish Intergalactic’s gameplay, story and release plans in detail.
