Hello Games has released the Forsaken update for No Man’s Sky on October 28, 2026, introducing haunted salvage activities, mysterious traders, biomechanical corvette components and new ship customization options. The Halloween-themed update also adds package delivery missions, additional cockpits and several navigation and interface improvements, including the ability to warp directly toward visible stars.
Hello Games founder Sean Murray detailed the update in an official Xbox Wire announcement, describing a darker direction for the space exploration game following September’s Cosmos update. Forsaken is the fifth major No Man’s Sky update of 2026, continuing the developer’s expansion of space exploration and player-built spacecraft.
The update introduces haunted mementos, unusual containers of preserved organic matter hidden throughout dangerous locations in deep space. Players can recover these materials from derelict spacecraft and infested space outposts, adding a new reason to explore hazardous environments and investigate abandoned structures.

The recovered mementos can be exchanged with forsaken traders, mysterious merchants who can be summoned near the edges of deep-space outposts. These traders offer a collection of biomechanical corvette modules that allow players to give their spacecraft an unsettling organic appearance.
Rather than requiring players to construct an entirely new vessel, the new components can be incorporated into existing corvette designs. Players who prefer a more extensive overhaul can also build a completely new ship using the additional modules, structural pieces and customization options.
Forsaken expands character and equipment customization as well. Players can earn a larva tank helmet through scavenging activities, while a new larva cannon multi-tool is available for purchase using preserved grubs. Both rewards follow the update’s biological horror theme.
Beyond its Halloween content, the update adds several features designed to expand corvette gameplay. New cockpit designs provide additional ship-building choices, while package courier missions introduce another activity for players interested in transporting cargo across space.
One of the more significant navigation changes is seamless interstellar warping. Players can now initiate travel toward stars visible in the sky, allowing them to move between star systems through a more direct navigation process.
The update also introduces a minimal HUD mode aimed at experienced players who want a less cluttered interface. A radial weapon selection system provides another way to switch between equipment during gameplay.
Forsaken follows the September 2026 Cosmos update, which expanded space exploration with new discoveries between planets, customizable space stations and additional activities. While Cosmos focused on restructuring and expanding the space environment, Forsaken builds on those systems with new salvage rewards, ship components and missions.
The release also continues Hello Games’ substantial update schedule for 2026. According to Murray, Forsaken is the year’s fifth major update, following Remnant, Xeno Arena, The Swarm and Cosmos.
No Man’s Sky remains available through Xbox Game Pass, giving subscribers access to the space exploration game alongside its continuing updates. The title is also available on PC and other console platforms.
Hello Games has not detailed its next major update, although Murray confirmed that the studio is already planning additional No Man’s Sky content for 2027.
