Nearly two minutes of footage allegedly showing an unannounced remake of the original Persona have surfaced online, offering a possible first look at a modern version of Atlus’s 1996 role-playing game. The video appeared on YouTube on October 31, 2026, through an account named P1REMAKE before circulating across Reddit and other social media platforms. Neither Atlus nor Sega has confirmed the project’s existence or authenticated the footage.
The video resembles an internal development showcase rather than a conventional promotional trailer. It contains three distinct sections demonstrating environmental exploration, turn-based combat and story sequences presented through illustrated character artwork. The apparent remake adopts a more modern visual presentation, with redesigned environments, updated battle interfaces and character animations resembling those seen in recent Persona games.
During exploration sequences, characters move through three-dimensional environments, while combat footage demonstrates updated battle presentation and Persona-summoning animations. The video also features music that appears to reinterpret tracks from the original game. However, the footage’s anonymous origin means these elements cannot be independently established as authentic Atlus development material.

One particularly unusual detail is the appearance of Tatsuya Suou, the protagonist of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, during a battle sequence. Tatsuya was not a playable character in the original Persona, raising questions about whether the footage represents an unfinished development build, a prototype using placeholder character assets or a different project altogether.
His appearance has also prompted speculation about possible remakes of the Persona 2 games, although nothing in the footage establishes that those projects are in development.
Another notable detail is the presence of Unreal Engine development text in the upper-left corner of the video. The footage also appears to reuse a Persona-summoning animation for Eriko Kirishima that closely resembles an animation associated with Yukiko Amagi in Persona 4 Revival.
These similarities have attracted attention because Atlus has used Unreal Engine for recent Persona projects, including Persona 3 Reload. Nevertheless, development overlays and familiar animations are not sufficient to prove that the footage originated from Atlus. A fan-created prototype or deliberately fabricated demonstration remains possible.
The video’s presentation has also drawn comparisons to unfinished Persona 3 Reload footage that circulated before Atlus officially announced that remake in 2023. That earlier leak ultimately preceded a genuine release, but it does not establish the authenticity of this separate material.
The original upload came from a YouTube account named P1REMAKE, reportedly created in March 2010. Despite the account’s age, it had only two other publicly visible uploads before the alleged remake footage appeared. Copies of the video subsequently circulated through file-sharing services and the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit.
Interest in revisiting the earliest Persona games has existed for years, and Atlus has publicly discussed the possibility. In an August 2026 interview with Gamer Braves, Persona 4 Revival producer Kazuhisa Wada expressed personal support for remaking Persona and Persona 2, while stopping short of confirming any active development.
The original Revelations: Persona debuted on PlayStation in 1996 and later received an updated PlayStation Portable release in 2009. Unlike the more recent numbered entries, its gameplay and presentation reflect the franchise’s earlier role-playing design, making a full modern remake a potentially substantial undertaking.
Atlus has already demonstrated its approach to rebuilding older role-playing games with Persona 3 Reload, while Persona 4 Revival continues that remake strategy. However, the newly circulated Persona footage has not been connected to either project through an official announcement.
For now, there is no confirmed Persona 1 remake release date, platform list, development team or official title. The footage provides an intriguing look at what a modern adaptation might resemble, but whether it represents a genuine Atlus project remains unresolved.
